Good bloke, horrendous newspaper that just makes up a lot of its sports stories and tries to make them to sound as dramatic as possible to try and stay relevant.
yep, and the rest of it is a mouthpiece for a certain politician's propaganda and like someone else said, OTT weather reports. Awful, awful paper. For a few years now, the sports stories have been 90% clickbait articles, clearing written by juniors. Filled with spelling mistakes, factual innacuracies, and putting their own cheeky spins on rumours from elsewhere. Amazed it's still going, let alone why its stories rank so high with Google.

Sorry, slightly off topic, but short is - don't believe any transfer stories in the Express!

I'd just like to reiterate that if any of you believe we're going to sign Koulibaly, for any sum of money let alone £70mil, you're a ****ing imbecile.

I remember Begovic being a very good keeper. Seemed to lose a bit of form for Bournemouth and he hasn't been seen since. I really would rather stick with Martin or a young keeper until the end of the year.

Moyes 18 mth contract.

Mmmmmmmmm. Pardon?
What was it Trevor Francis said? Sullivan would have a team of loan players if he could. Suits his low investment high asset stripping model.

While the thinking is likely that it's cheap,.... it's probably a good strategy honestly. Moyes is uncertain to be here beyond 18 months, he was an emergency replacement not a long term target. One problem we keep having is that we bring in a manager, he buys players, then we bring in another manager who wants a different type of player, and we spend all our (sadly small) budget cycling the same few positions. In this case, If Moyes does well, you can sign these players knowing that he's getting an extended contract. If he fails, the new manager has the option to either exercise the sale option on those players, or put that money (which should now be budgeted, and public so S&G can't back out) toward players he wants.

Player values at 70 Million.
David Gold makes a phone call.
David Sullivan offers 24 million plus Sanchez.
Rude reply received.

bubbles1966 wrote: Sun Jan 05, 2020 12:40 pm We could feasibly permanently off about three players where we are oversubscribed or they are not used and get in the region of £12m-£18m in total, plus some other loaned out, freed.

This could enable a loan keeper, a couple of other loans and maybe a decent permanent signing.

I think the owners won't want to invest net, but in the spirit of :arry: they do like the idea of wheelin'n'dealin' and taking a punt.

Something like:

Roberto >>> Begovic (loan with a very cheap option, he's on a free in <18 months)
Sanchez >>> maybe Fernandes (loan with an option)
Yarmolenko (£7m-£12m) >>> no replacement unless Diangana comes back
Hugill (£5m-£6m) >>> maybe Barbosa

That's the way their dealings used to look, and its very low risk on the departure side.
After todays game you can add a right back as top priority to that list.

Fredericks won't be out long, and if Moyes plays with a back 3 and wing backs he'll trust Antonio.

think they were already after a right back with Zabaleta's imminent retirement....suspect they have a list of loan targets or low cost options in any case. weren't we linked with Nordi Mukiele for £3-4m a few weeks back?

I reckon they'll wing it until the summer. Manquillo was mentioned a while back, and there's a French player whose name escapes me.

Partner's a Bournemouth fan so have watched then pretty often. We both couldn't believe just how slow he had become before belatedly being dropped. My granny could move faster than him and she's been dead for 30 years.

Exactly the type of player we need, although I feel he’s way past his best.

What makes you think that?

A Hamstring takes a while to repair and he pulled it quite sharply, add the way he walked off, he’s done more than tweak it.

I’d be surprised to see him back before last Feb, possibly even early March. We can’t afford to have Zabaleta playing week in week out for 2 months.
