Anything goes in The Snug, General Discussion's rebellious little brother. An off-topic den of iniquity where any subject not covered elsewhere may be discussed. Well, anything except golf, Star Wars and Arsenal.

I'm convinced mobile phones listen to us as well. There have been a few times when I have been chatting to someone in a pub and when I go on the internet on my phone the adverts displayed are in reference to the conversation I have just had!

No, that absolutely does happen, I believe. We had this kind of conversation on here a while ago & it really does seem to occur.

My eldest lad reckons this as well, he’s convinced that things he talks about get advertised to him on Facebook.
I’ve turned off the analytics stuff on my phone and done seem to be affected, or maybe I am and haven’t noticed but I’ve not been pestered by any adverts for blonde Swedish lesbians today so I guess I’m under the radar!

My missus works in a college and, without fail, all of the students in there have some kind of plaster or piece of sticky tape over the camera that is above the screen on their laptops.

Students! I cried, The stupid snowflakes!

Now, I'm not so sure. Perhaps they're right to be so paranoid.

If you've got social media, then every time you open your smartphone your digital footprint is being marked by FB & Twitter.

It's no coincidence that what you search for on Amazon suddenly appears in your news feed hours later, or why adverts for clothes you've looked for online appear in the top bar on KUMB. How do you think Facebook makes its money from a free-to-use service - targetted ads. Everyone willingly writes their privacy away as soon as they click "accept" on their Ts&Cs.

The state of this site when it gets busy.

Deary me. I'd like to know who's providing the servers so I know who to avoid if ever I'm in the market for such a thing.

Match days are a write off. On the upside, you don't have to read the drivel from some of the melts in the GD.

I set up a pi-hole last year, amazing software. Scary to see how much is blocked (21.9% of DNS queries have been blocked over 6 months as they are deemed to be ad/tracking/spam)
