Re: The January Transfer Window 2020
Mad how crucial Fabianski is to the whole enterprise – we were top 8 until the first injury, he comes back and hadn't conceded in two in a bit games. Within minutes we're back to a goalkeeping situation which costs the game.
Can't assume any more than it won't happen again. Need a genuine alternative option to compete with him.

I was with Dennis Smiths son yesterday.
His dad is still at Stoke as an ambassador. Apparently a deal is being tied up for Butland and Joe Allen.
Don't shoot the messenger if it doesn't happen or you don't like it !

Anderson was excellent. And Haller had his moments too, albeit it he's ultimately judged by getting it in the onion bag, and he didn't (legally – the offside was a nice finish though).

Totally not inspired by randolf - think I’d prefer Butland to be honest.

It gives us opportunity to get a better standard of keeper in now as we can offer first team football in the short term, with a first choice who is clearly having fitness issuesAceface wrote: ↑Sat Jan 11, 2020 8:34 am Mad how crucial Fabianski is to the whole enterprise – we were top 8 until the first injury, he comes back and hadn't conceded in two in a bit games. It is no longer just a 'sitting on the bench' scenario so will have much more appeal

Re: The January Transfer Window 2020
Most posts aren’t aligned to thinking of GSB, expectations aren’t aligned to their logic. That logic is that money spent in January is ‘dead’ money if we go down - and they want to avoid ‘dead’ money. Last night’s result actually decreased the chance of them spending on transfer fees rather than increased it imo. The idea that we need to spend big on transfer fees to stay up given the position we are in is completely alien to them. If you don’t believe me look at the seasons we were in danger of going down - for two of them we actually made a net gain on transfer dealings.
I agree with the sentiment that one good signing made in the past week (either goalkeeper, centre midfield or to right back) could have resulted in a very different result last night.

Re: The January Transfer Window 2020
I was chatting to a Tottenham supporting friend in the week who thought Kane's injury might have a silver lining for next season, given it might finally give them an opening to sign a better standard of back-up. Same situation really.Crouchend_Hammer wrote: ↑Sat Jan 11, 2020 8:41 am It gives us opportunity to get a better standard of keeper in now as we can offer first team football in the short term, with a first choice who is clearly having fitness issues

Re: The January Transfer Window 2020
Looks like we are being messed about with the deal to bring in Gedson. We need a keeper to come in..Butland was highly rated not so long ago and could be our keeper for many years to come. Him and Fab would be a decent pair of keepers to have.
I would like Joe Allen to also join. Always look's to get on the ball and play. A bit more mobile than our captain and the fee shouldn't be too high.

Look at the next 11 fixtures. I honestly think we are down. We needed players for last night. We cant compete with 1st steamers that cannot cope physically. If Nobes and Xab were horses they would have been shot at halftime.

The only way out of this is for the owners to spend big or admit that Moyes was not the solution. They won’t be able to blame anyone else. If we go down they will hang him out to dry and his cheer leaders will disappear once again... or blame Pellegrini
Re: The January Transfer Window 2020
We were more than comfortable up until the error,
Anderson has a wonderful chance, haller had a few chances, lanzini has to square it, all this without tbe ridiculous var decision before that martin had 1 save to make.
As its been said the biggest issue Is 10th day of the window and no sign of the athletic dynamic midfielder we have needed for years, no adequate keeper,
Having to play Zaba as wingback.
The absolute farcical nature of how this club is run is always the problem, moyes would have a decent chance of getting us out of this but how can he with the tools he has at his disposal.

Re: The January Transfer Window 2020
We need five new players to have any chance of staying up.
But then again who’s even bothered if we stay up?
A relegation means no VAR and a higher possibility of the owners selling.

Re: The January Transfer Window 2020
Surely a bigger question is why fernandes? We need a hit the ground running midfielder like a kessie sangare,
Berge, its too risky to bring in a young kid who moyes has said is one for the future, we are deep in trouble and need players who will positively impact the team now,
But he's a loan with a small fee up front,
Presume we want to deal with stoke as they have financial trouble,
Crux is we never ever get what we need, we get what is available that is percieved as 'value'
Surely the valye is getting exactly what you need to keep you in the league or even to progress.

Re: The January Transfer Window 2020
New GK: Without Fabianski, we have a league two standard keeper in goal (Martin), with a County league keeper as back-up (Roberto).
New RB/RWB: Fredericks is ok, not great, not terrible, but just not sure he offers enough on the ball. Zabaleta is finished.
New LB/LWB: Cresswell is finished. Masuaku isn’t a defender.
New CDM: We need someone to help Rice, who is currently doing the work of two or three midfielders, and protect the defence.
New CM: Probably two new central midfielders given our lack of options in there. Noble & Sanchez are crud, Wilshere is always injured and Lanzini is finished.
Until these problem areas are addressed, we are always going to struggle, be overrun and outfought. We simply have too many passengers in too many critical positions and no pace or athleticism. It’s no coincidence how these positions are the positions that the owners have never spent real money on.

Re: The January Transfer Window 2020
Im now pitching for berge as based on last nights game he should enable rice to be able to progress up the pitch more often. The work he did and the ball to snodgrass was very good. And it would be ideal to see more of this

You should have kept that quiet until the deal is done mate. Knowing our luck Norwich will come in and outbid us for both!rigoberts song wrote: ↑Sat Jan 11, 2020 8:35 am I was with Dennis Smiths son yesterday.

There’s far worse teams than Norwich that could outbid us
