Re: The January Transfer Window 2020
Allen has a good game, sully will be gutted if that increases his value, as for fernandes what do we offer these young players with ambition, when was the last time we signed a player and our coaching improved them to the next level,

Allen will replace noble as a playmaker. We still need a replacement for sanchez who is a defensive midfielder

The Stoke Sentinel you say, wow, cheap and fantastic, what's not to love.
You're not right in the head.

Doesn’t it just make you sick when once again we miss out on a transfer because of money. It really shows how unambitious our owners really are once again dragging their heels when we are just about to cross the line. What hope do we really have, feel sorry for any manager that comes to us because we are doing our shopping in the bargain basement. Yet more lies upon more lies. They probably haggle over the price of a newspaper at their local shops....... Embarassing

What sickens me even more about our situation is the amount of decent squad members we have got rid of in the last few seasons, everyone apart from our nut job owners realise the importance of having depth in the squad........ sad days ahead

I just wonder how many people snorting at the idea of signing Joe Allen also snorted at the idea of signing Danny Ings? Ings has been fantastic for Southampton, certainly better value for money than Haller so far.

To be fair, they have generally spent a lot on wages, mainly on ageing pros.keithwright1977 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 12, 2020 12:43 am Doesn’t it just make you sick when once again we miss out on a transfer because of money. Why they won't shell out for youngsters and haggle over a couple of grand on Declan's wage is beyond me.
Re: The January Transfer Window 2020
Tenuous. You're suggesting that because Ings has been a relative success then every other player signed from the Championship will also be a success. Beyond illogical.Ironing Board wrote: ↑Sun Jan 12, 2020 1:04 am I just wonder how many people snorting at the idea of signing Joe Allen also snorted at the idea of signing Danny Ings? Re: The January Transfer Window 2020
I doubt Fernandes or his Agents would have been in a rush to sign for anyone. They've clearly offered him out to multiple clubs and then picked what they feels the best choice. We was always just an option.keithwright1977 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 12, 2020 12:43 am Doesn’t it just make you sick when once again we miss out on a transfer because of money. Re: The January Transfer Window 2020
A “relative” success? He’s second or third highest scorer in the league. And was another player Moyes wanted before.
Re: The January Transfer Window 2020
valuable assets that can generate cash without having a material impact on moyes' plans
10m - yarmo
if we can't sell yarmo then we can generate some serious cash by selling diop for 40-50m (spurs, manchester united)
worst case scenario, unable or unwilling to generate cash, 25m budget
4m - etheridge/randolph
15m - foyth
7m - allen
those transfers give us a starting RB, CB and a decent reserve keeper plus competition for noble
foyth > federicks
foyth > balbuena
foyth > cresswell at cb
but if we can generate another 10m from somewhere we can get some serious competition and eventual starter for both central mid roles by upgrading allen to sander berge
4m - etheridge/randolph
15m - foyth
18m - sander berge
i can't decide who would be more valuable, either berge or foyth, each of them provide very serious competition in multiple areas
do we really need another striker?
haller, antonio and ajeti - thats 3 for 1 starting spot
anderson/lanzini competing in behind

Re: The January Transfer Window 2020
I’m open to those, the one player I think we should make sure we bring in is Allen. He will be worth more than we pay for him straight off the bat and will be a very useful option. He will take strain off Noble, and also provide competition with Noble. Competition is good in a squad, as it seems Mark is virtually undroppable. That’s not healthy .b0x wrote: ↑Sun Jan 12, 2020 2:45 am valuable assets that can generate cash without having a material impact on moyes' plans

The hypothetical “Moyes wanted” stuff again.Ironing Board wrote: ↑Sun Jan 12, 2020 2:12 am A “relative” success? He’s second or third highest scorer in the league. And was another player Moyes wanted before.
Not sure what comparison you’re realistically making with Ings and Allen, except white and British.
Ings was 25, went for £20m after a successful loan spell and was at Liverpool. Allen is at Stoke and just drew 0-0 at home to Millwall as his side fight relegation. He’s also nearly 30.

Re: The January Transfer Window 2020
If you have accepted relegation (and that “you” is anyone from Dave, Dave and Jane to even the lowliest poster on here), then I guess a shortlist of Allen and Randolph isn’t bad. A goalkeeper who has performed well in that league and a midfielder with good pedigree and possibly better than a Championship relegation fight.
Add in Hugill, I guess we’d have a decent Championship side. Balbuena would probably stay, Fred would, as would Cresswell. May even keep Oggy. Noble and Allen in midfield, Snodgrass and Diangana out wide, Hugill banging in the goals. Masuaku in there too, probably get top 10.
Rice, Lanzini, Fornals, Diop, Fab, Antonio and Haller all leave, plus Sanchez, Bob, Yarmolenko, Wilshere.

Re: The January Transfer Window 2020
if allen still has passion then he could be a good signing.. but remember he's gone from the heights of competing at the heightest level on an international stage to now struggling at the root on the championship.. almost 30 now he's see and done most of it... odds are that he'll be coming to west ham to cash in.. not to challenge for anything... he'll probably be just as happy to sit in the stands... who knows.. but the sounds coming from stoke fans is a little concerning - the same fans that were happy enough with pulisIroning Board wrote: ↑Sun Jan 12, 2020 3:30 am I’m open to those, the one player I think we should make sure we bring in is Allen. The journo who broke the Haller signing confirms...
Nicolò Schira
@NicoSchira
#GedsonFernandes is close to joining #Tottenham on an 18 month loan deal. He’s chosen #Spurs after Benfica agreed deals with them and #WestHam for a loan with option to buy (€36M). The midfielder has preferred #THFC than Hammers for the salary. More high (€0,5M) offered by Levy

Re: The January Transfer Window 2020
I take it as read that Sullivan and gold are the worst owners in the premiership but they have been in football now some 25 years there utter incompetence amazes me they have learnt nothing in that time about how to run a club. However they can't be as useless as they appear as they made some 80 million from the sale of Birmingham and if they sell us will make at least 200 million. We sadly are the mugs for putting up with it and people still defend them.

Re: The January Transfer Window 2020
If Joe Allen came in and was to perform to the standard of Snodaldinho, whose signing was widely criticised in 2017 for very similar sounding reasons, how would everyone feel?
Ditto Gary O'Neil.
On a scale of 1 (awful) to 5 (superb, visionary, game changer) where would this sit as a transfer?
