The January Transfer Window 2020

Re: The January Transfer Window 2020
Even if those numpties decided to spend some money now, which players could we now attract with relegation getting nearer? More old gits looking for a last big payday or someone no-one else wants. The ship is sinking fast.

Yep, that squad is beyond saving now. Relegation looms.
Very sad for all us fans to see our club sink like this, but it is exactly what these owners deserve.

They thought different. He was their player of the year. And my mate who is a charlton s/t holder is really hoping they can buy him.Puff Daddy wrote: ↑Wed Jan 22, 2020 7:23 pm Even on the brief occasions I have seen Cullen, who is yet another short house, I have never thought him any good. Even when on loan at Bradford City, he was hardly a stand out player

Re: The January Transfer Window 2020
I’d rather see Grady and Cullen play & try to make it for us (even possibly fail) than continue to just watch the default merchant squad we’ve currently got.
Snodgrass, Zabaleta, Noble, Sanchez, Lanzini, Wilshere.
Aaron ****ing Cresswell. That backwards chess piece and his years of stealing a living based on the Boa Morte trick of 2 decent games in every 25. “Give him a 3 year extension.”
****.
That feeling, that groan you’d make inside when you’d rock up to the stadium and see Carroll’s name in the starting 11? That’s now how I feel about all of those players. it’s not even their fault. Most of them have been solid pros. One of them is a true club legend.
But they’re raggy dolls now. We’re stuck with them. No one would buy any of them.
Old. Slow. Tired.
& there’s no Scott Parker to drag us out of it this time. There’s not even an Arnie.
They need to proper spend or we are gone.

Re: The January Transfer Window 2020
loans.
It's one reason we are pushing for loans. If you are a player not getting on the pitch at a top flight club, you don't want to move to a relegation side permanently, but a struggling side that will have to throw you on and let you get minutes from the jump and you know that even if they go down you just head back home.... sure, why not?

Re: The January Transfer Window 2020
Last time we were in such an awful mess was with Uncle Avram. Now who did the clowns give us in the January window to stop relegation that season? Wayne Bridge, Robbie Keane & Demba Ba.
Keane and Bridge were useless but Demba Ba was a success with 7 goals in 12 games. So it's likely they will try to get 3 signings in by time the window closes. I think that will be Joe Allen, Nzonzi and an unproven striker. We are staring down the barrel and I think it will be the repeat of the Avram show.

Re: The January Transfer Window 2020
Have you seen Payet play recently? He has pretty much hit top levels of performances again. I really don’t see how this happens. Wish it did. Watching Payet play is probably the greatest joy I’ve had under these owners.

Bloody hell, might as go the whole hog and get Arnie back too. Seriously, have they got no imagination and just keep on going back. In that pic, Payet looks like he has put more timber on. It's a no from me, we need pace in this team and Payet is not going to solve that.

Payet has scored eight goals in 19 games so far this season. This pic taken last weekend.

Re: The January Transfer Window 2020
I’ve seen them and him in the flesh three times this season
He’d be the best player at this club once again by an absolute mile. But there’s no chance they’d sell him to us.
Absolutely never gonna happen.
Re: The January Transfer Window 2020
Guessing Marseille still owe us some money then?
First Randolph now Payet!

He’s not far been off the levels he was for us a lot of this season.MrHammer73 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 23, 2020 12:17 am Bloody hell, might as go the whole hog and get Arnie back too. Re: The January Transfer Window 2020
Some would call it lazy journalism having the same players linked again and again, but I honestly believe it to be true. Having no scouts, agents know they can tout every player under the sun to us and get some traction.
At this point, I wouldn’t even say no to Payet (depending on the price of course). That’s how desperate we are. We know our owners aren’t going to spend money, so might as well bring him back.

Re: The January Transfer Window 2020
His form and quality aren't in question. His ability to fix our problems at fullback and central midfield is though surely? Or are we suddenly hoping to outscore the opposition for the rest of the season?Up the Junction wrote: ↑Thu Jan 23, 2020 12:18 amPayet has scored eight goals in 19 games so far this season. Not to mention his ability to do an Arnie at any moment.

Re: The January Transfer Window 2020
I have not been following Payet this season and looks like you guys are saying he is back in form. I remember when McAvennie came back to us and was so hyped for that but that didn't turn out well.
What the hell...try to get Payet back..we need some sort of galvanizing effect.

Nor should you - see E's post above. Sadly, he's probably right.HoustonHammer24 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 23, 2020 12:22 amAt this point, I wouldn’t even say no to Payet (depending on the price of course).
But you can totally see the board's reasons for looking into this. Talisman, fan favourite, quells unrest, bums on seats. It ticks a lot of boxes.
Re: The January Transfer Window 2020
Payet was never the quickest, but he was so good at football that he didn’t need to be. The rest of our players aren’t very good at football, so they need to be quick to make up for it.
I say bring him back! We’ve got nothing else to lose. I’d take a relegation to see him play for us again!
