Re: West Ham Utd v Liverpool: match thread
I don't see anything but a defeat tonight unfortunately, what a top top side they are, on the plus side I expect it to be a much tighter game than if Pellegrini was in charge just not sure where our goals are going to come from. I would setup like this (assuming Fab and Snodgrass are fit to play):
Fabianski
Diop Balbuena Ogbonna
Zabaleta Noble Rice Fornals Masuaku
Haller Antonio
Subs: Randolph, Cardoso, Cresswell, Sanchez, Snodgrass, Lanzini, Ajeti

at least their biggest miss match (mane vs zabaleta) wont be happening. origi is a bit of a donkey all told if he's the replacement and that japanese kid isn't nearly up to speed yet.
keep the faith.

If we can somehow gain a point tonight and beat Brighton then I can live with a mauling at Anfield
Re: West Ham Utd v Liverpool: match thread
The most successful tactic has probably been to play narrow at the back, teams have been letting Liverpool have the width, letting them launch crosses but denying the runs behind. Their front three aren't exactly the most prolific headers of the ball(though their CBs from set pieces have been), so that immediately takes them out of their comfort zone and secondly, crosses are always going be percentage plays. You roll the dice and hope that the crosses generate chances that are on average less 'good' than it would have otherwise been if they were allowed to run behind(presumably for those one-on-ones against the keeper).London Fields Hammer wrote: ↑Wed Jan 29, 2020 9:57 am Genuine question: what's been the most effective tactic against them this year?
A gung-ho pressing game or backs to the wall/park the bus?
(not sure we are capable of either but...)

No. I’m guessing as they have an spl game they wouldn’t have been able to show it for contractual reasons, likewise sky with the league cup.

Don't know if this has been mentioned as I haven't/cant read through what I guess is a very depressing thread but
West Ham 0 Liverpool 6 is 50/1 … Skybet
Thank me later

Looking forward to this one tonight. It will be refreshing to watch some expansive clinical attacking football even if it's not us playing it.....!
I've had a cheeky punt on the West Ham win (1-0) but also hedged it with 5.5+ goals as realistically I think we will get tonked!!

I can't win tonight . . . . Mrs BB is from Liverpool and still blames us for them not winning the league last year.
Either they gives us a tonking (I lose), or we scrape some form of result (and I lose again).
And it's only wednesday, so I can't even have a drink to anaesthetise the pain.

Re: West Ham Utd v Liverpool: match thread
The aim has to be to control the loss so we don't slip to 2nd from bottom. There is no shame losing to Liverpool but given our desperate position a 2-0 loss would be a decent result.
One thing to mention is Liverpool aren't scoring lots of goals like they did last season. Most of their games have been won by a single goal. Maybe being too optimistic

Because I'm mental and like to think of "what ifs", for me the only way we get anything is if a) Antonio starts, b) he plays a blinder and c) doesn't pull up with an injury.

I think our only hope tonight is that Klopp rates us the same way that 90% of this forum does at the minute and names a strong under 12s starting eleven. We might get away with only losing by two or three to them :p
Re: West Ham Utd v Liverpool: match thread
Here’s an idea. Let’s get behind the team tonight and give them a proper backing.

He won't, he will only ease up once the league is secured.Phoenix232 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 29, 2020 1:57 pm I think our only hope tonight is that Klopp rates us the same way that 90% of this forum does at the minute and names a strong under 12s starting eleven.
