Ouch - I don't think he is a fan of Boris (article from the guardian so not a shock)

Re: Coronavirus
But there are conflicting opinions in Science. Are we really all going to go into lockdown for 300 cases? Bear in mind that if we spend the next 4 weeks squashing it in this country, unless the whole world has done likewise this will all start up again, and we face it all over again.
Re: Coronavirus
It's descending into every man/country for himself.
Imagine if the zombie apocalypse actually happened, and how quickly civilisation would deteriorate

I had that conversation about 30 minutes ago, we got onto the Walking Dead where good decent honest people turned into killers, perhaps it wasn't as far fetched as I thought, we have almost seen it over hand sanitiser/toilet tolls

What do Russia and Singapore have in common?TheHandOfDog wrote: ↑Thu Mar 12, 2020 1:48 pm Someone asked a while back why Russia has so few cases and apparently it's because they shut their borders back in January. And Singapore which got hit with it quite early has not even 200 cases yet is also because they stopped travel early. Why are we so slow at acting?

Schools in NI to be shut from 16th to 30th March
Also a decision by the Republic of Ireland government to go into lockdown from 6pm tonight until the end of March.
Seems sensible.

There is only one voice I want to hear. It is a scientist who employs reasoning in a reasoned way. They should also drive a 15-year-old Mondeo that they service themselves.Bend it like Repka wrote: ↑Thu Mar 12, 2020 2:09 pm But there are conflicting opinions in Science. Re: Coronavirus
The young uns are less at risk but I guess can be carriers, so the shutting down of schools is that to stop the spread in parents/old uns?

1 dead today at Queens in Romford
Tony Chambers, interim chief executive at Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust said another patient had died at Queen's hospital.
He said: "We can confirm that a patient, who was in her sixties, and who tested positive for Covid-19 has sadly died at Queen's hospital.
"She had been very unwell with significant other health conditions.
"Our thoughts and condolences are with the patient's family at what is undoubtedly a very distressing time.
"We ask that the family's privacy is respected".

Re: Coronavirus
Our Irish government announced at 11.30 that schools to shut by 6pm.
Also a ban on crowds over 100 and must keep two metres distance etc...
By 1.30 every supermarket in the country was swamped with panic buyers.
Instead of keeping crowds apart it brought them closer together.
All shelves now empty, despite all heads of supermarkets announcing there was no need to panic buy that there is loads of food in their suppliers warehouses and we won't run out.
These morons are the same people we are relying on to stay indoors when the lock down inevitably is introduced.
You just know they will ignore that too.

Re: Coronavirus
Netherlands joins the party
"Netherlands bans gathering of more than 100
Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte has banned meetings of more than 100 and told people they should work from home if possible, until at least 31 March. Companies are also being advised to rotate staff to reduce the risk of infection from coronavirus.
The prime minister said he introduced the measures because of the likelihood of "untraceable" cases of the virus in the Netherlands."
We will be the only ones at this rate.
