ageing hammer wrote: Thu Mar 12, 2020 2:54 pm Our Irish government announced at 11.30 that schools to shut by 6pm.

Also a ban on crowds over 100 and must keep two metres distance etc...

By 1.30 every supermarket in the country was swamped with panic buyers.

Instead of keeping crowds apart it brought them closer together.

All shelves now empty, despite all heads of supermarkets announcing there was no need to panic buy that there is loads of food in their suppliers warehouses and we won't run out. :x

These morons are the same people we are relying on to stay indoors when the lock down inevitably is introduced.

You just know they will ignore that too.

Going to the supermarket is the last place I would want to be going to right now. Nutters. Not surprised it has happened though.

'Brazilian official who met Trump in US tests positive'......just please, pretty please.

"The Brazilian government’s communications secretary, Fabio Wajngarten, has tested positive for coronavirus.

He was part of the entourage of President Jair Bolsonaro during his visit to the US, where he met President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Pence.

Mr Wajngarten posted a picture of the meeting with Trump and Pence in Miami on his Instagram page on Saturday.

Brazilian media report Mr Bolsonaro is being monitored for symptoms.

Meanwhile Mr Trump has said he is not concerned."

jastons wrote: Thu Mar 12, 2020 9:30 am Everyone talking about shutting schools as if it's just a case of stopping the little ones. What about all of the working parents who then need to find child care?

A news headline this morning said 'Boris Johnson set to tell everyone to work from home'. What about those of us who can't work from home?
Yes, bus drivers, work from home.

Well it is a 'moveable feast'.

A blanket shutting of all schools is probably going to be counter-productive. Schools should retain a skeleton staff and remain open for kids of NHS & frontline care staff only. Everyone else can stay home as it's likely the parents wont be in work anyway.

The one thing we dont want is a situation where large numbers of potentially infected children, very possibly asymptomatic, are being cared for by their grandparents.

I volunteer to work on the frontline if it means I don't have to look after my kids.

I remember when he had that medical and the results were along the lines of this man is basically a cross between Ronaldo and Michael Johnson and will never ever die.

So he should be fine.

I believe he wrote the results out himself though
