Ooi, why would they do that, bubbs?
The Chinese did something similar to temporarily expand the number of nursing beds.

Also worth noting that a third of England's cases are London, and mostly zones 1-2.

I thought the one that died at Queens hosp, Romford was 62?
Also, the other day, a newborn tested positive at North Middlesex hosp.

Good that we haven't already colonised a moon or another planet.
The great & the good would already be there, having a jolly up, while we await an uncertain future.

A day earlier, the same authorities had predicted that Italy would still see a jump in cases despite a national lockdown that began on March 9, barely two days after severe restrictions on personal movement in the north.

They cited irresponsible behaviour by many citizens, who despite the earlier warnings not to gather in large numbers, headed to beaches or ski resorts, and hung out together in town squares, especially after the closure of schools.
Yep, we will get the same behaviour here if not worst, especially from the yoof, unaffected and invincible ( We've all been there)

IT will only hit some when a close family dies and then the regret comes in droves

But since then, the majority of the population has understood the reality of this infection. Either by good or bad, they are being stopped by police if they are not behaving properly. And still, with this draconian measures set in we are surging in cases and a small decrease is expected only by next week. Your government plan is simply non existent. A lot of your dear ones wil die or suffer and you will be able to point the finger at one single person, Boris Johnson.

Well, him & his advisers.
Still, at least Iain Duncan Smith will be ecstatic for his old department.

I went to an italian wine tasting evening in my local off licence this evening. We were assured that the wine we were drinking was produced before Corona hit Italy (winky thing).

It was fully attended as was the local boozer and by the looks of it the social club in the village .

I'm glad that its business as usual and people are out and about.

So these measures are demonstrably not working, yet you want us to follow suit?

French ski resorts now ordered to close, with a general shutdown no doubt coming up

Where I am in Switzerland it is probably just a matter of days or hours before everything bar supermarkets and pharmacies are closed

All pretty grim. I have the prospect of spending the next seven weeks at home with the missus and daughter

You poor b......we feel your pain. :D
The thing is, my trip to Sainsburys last night, it was packed out. If that isn't going to be a perfect breeding ground to mingle with lots of potentially virulent people, I don't know where is. People still have to shop. Well, unless everyone signs up for home deliveries, which I doubt will happen.
I guarantee that even the c*nts that have stocked up enough for six months, will STILL be out shopping, determined to empty more shelves.
They won't be using their non-perishable food as they will want to keep it, just in case.
Also, how many people who should be self isolating, actually will?
People are generally not always that good at doing the right thing, especially if there's no one actually making them do it.

Have you got something against boris johnson? Cause it certainly seems that way...

Edit: His advisors, his chief medical officer etc are all advising him... And currently, apart from the south korea model, no one seems to be in control of this...

As long as those that need to self isolate... isolate and those who are most vunerable are kept safe (Such as the other 65s & people with existing health conditions) why can't the rest continue their normal day to day life?

Did you know that the average number of deaths from 'ordinary flu' in England for the last five seasons, 2014 to 2019, was 17,000 deaths annually?

Good question, but I would say:
1) We have no idea how many that need to self isolate, actually will.
2) If people are contagious before showing any signs, how can you know who you're mixing with?
Children might only suffer very mildly but they could be prolific carriers & spreaders.

I work as a manager for wetherspoons...

1) Anyone (staff) showing any signs are sent away straight away, we're currently down to half our workforce with trading figures that are up... We're struggling to deal with the lack of staff, but on the flip side, its whats needed... We want to do our best (as a pub and it seems company) to keep normality... I had one trying to pull a fast one, called on friday to say he had symptoms, so couldnt work weekend... but would be back Tuesday... I told him he can't return until this coming saturday due to guidelines... he didnt say much after this....

But all business need to do this

2) this is why its pivotal that we keep schools etc open... whose gonna look after the kids when their not in school? Granparents (most of the time)... why put them in a situation when they could be around the ones that are carriers with no symptoms? This is if we keep Every thing else open, as parents probably need to earn

Also, with the talk of taking hotels etc under government control, why not place the elder community there? Give them all their supplies that are required, but also they are around people in the same position... And we can ensure, at a lower cost to ensure they aren't breaking it, their kept seperate...

House arrest/forced quarantine is gonna do more harm than good...

Elder generation being left feeling isolated with little outside contact... People with anxiety and panic issues.... People who live alone but with socialble lives will lead to a rise in depression... Struggling to see family members...

You always want what you cant have, taking away basic parts of life that we take as for granted such as socialising, a feeling of being wanted and needed...

In my opinion isolating a country isnt the way forward, let people live their day to day lives, keep the economy coming but most importantly, protect the in danager community...
