Costa fell out with Conte... I'd love him here & will be very disappointed if he goes to spuds

Wolves still favourites for Costa on sky bet.
But he is a free transfer so this can drag on for a while.

Not sure how the work permit rules apply here.
Not playing in a big league. Not playing internationally. No large transfer fee.

It wouldn't be us anyway but curious

What this proves with Costa is that its 1pm on deadline day and there are players available.

The owners are just not interested.

Is the right answer. There is no incentive for the board to invest in such times where income is reduced and we have 35 points already.

An unnamed top-six Premier League club has offered Diego Costa the chance to sign for them on a deal until the end of the season.

However, those inquiries are said to have come to an end, with the former Chelsea and Atletico Madrid striker keen to land a longer contract.

Costa, who is a free agent, wants a two-and-a-half-year deal worth around £13m over its duration. He has had interest from clubs in Turkey, Qatar and Saudi Arabia but no club has yet agreed terms.

I hope its Moyes who thinks that the players that are available are not what we need and making that decision.

We do need a forward but there are other areas that also need to be strengthened if the right player comes along.

We wasn't expecting to be in the position we are in. It's a huge jump from the season before and all our problems. I trust Moyes has a plan.

They would take 17th place every year if they could get away with it.

No ambition, nothing. I'd love to be proved wrong but Antonio is not going to last much longer before an injury and Rice and Soucek are starting to look weary at times.

This season is just going to peter away once again as it does every year under this mob when we get off to a good PL start as we don't address the obvious deficiencies.

We aren't signing Diego Costa.
Nor anyone else it would seem.

Benrahma does look like he has potential for sure and Lindgard is a decent player.
However, we sold our first choice (at the time) club record striker and have not replaced him.

It’s like going to the supermarket to get eggs because the Mrs fancies an omelette and coming back with Weetabix instead.

And, to be fair, neither am I (in Costa).

I'd provisionally love Costa but the fact that Atletico tore up his contract and no other PL club has, until now, shown any serious interest, probably tells its own story.

Really? You'd have been happy with our owners putting all their eggs in that basket on January 1st?
At the start of the window, ignoring all the long-shot opportunities we might have for getting in our perfect striker and a whole month to go for Costa's agent to scout for the best package for his client, you'd have given him whatever he wants on the off chance we might do better than WINNING EVERY GAME OTHER THAN LAST NIGHT?

If I were Costa (and his agent would probably be a lot more ruthless than me) I'd have asked for a 2.5 year deal on £120k p/w. At least. Where were we? 13th in the table?

You reckon Moyes is thinking "I really want En-Nesyri, but negotiations will take 2 weeks at least, and even then he might not be available at all until the summer. F**k it! £120k on a 32 year old for 2.5 years is what's gonna solve all our problems"

No? Me neither.

Moyes often speaks of signing the 'right' type of player, now I don't know what Moyes' version of that player is in reality, but I'm pretty sure it isn't Diego Costa.

So it looks like Josh King and Gilmour to Southampton.

I'm not sure they need either.

Who cares about Jan 1st, I'm talking about NOW so Jan 31st.

We can go and offer him a deal now, today, in the next hour.

Costas situation has also changed since Jan 1st too.

We could offer a 4 month loan or an 18 month deal with a 1 year option.

If we can pay potentially £4m for Lingard.....

I'll wait until the window has closed for final judgement but it does have a whiff of same old same old hand of Sullivan to it.

Costa has been **** for years now.

17/18 - 7 in 23
18/19 - 5 in 21
19/20 - 5 in 30
20/21 - 2 in 7

Total over 4 years = 19 in 81 = a goal every 4.25 games.

In the same amount of time:

Haller scored 49 in 137 = a goal every 2.8 games
Lucas Perez scored 26 in 89 = a goal every 3.4 games

Costa is past it - we're looking at the top striker who played for Chelsea 5 years ago. This isn't the one we'd be getting. We'd get all the shithousery and non of the goals.

No point in Costa he will get his teeth in to someone and be banned for 10 games, we shouid have been all out for another striker lingard and yarmo are not the answers, need someone to hold the ball up to let players come on to the two mentioned cant do that, the players are tired but the role Antonio's been playing is the hardest so back up is and was needed, poor decision by the club and looks like we will have to go with what we have

They probably don't but it gives them options to adjust. Interesting in how Gilmour would play in a side he needs to track back a bit more for.
