Re: Mark Noble - West Ham Legend 500 up
It's funny isn't it, if we were at the wrong end of the table fighting relegation, the general consensus would be that of anger and disappointment at such a video, yet here we are at the top end of the table fighting for a Champions league spot and here I am, drinking my coffee, beaming with pride at the great spirit and togetherness on show.
Fickle bunch ain't we.
Happy birthday skip.

Bake in the centre of the oven for 25-30 mins until a skewer inserted into the middle of the cake comes out clean.

My first thought watching that video was "who is cleaning that up?".
I'll always hate myself for that.

Out of the public eye, Nobes being Nobes. I think this club is going to miss him more than they and we yet realize.

I think he almost certainly stays at the club in some capacity. Either as a coach or a player liaison or ambassador.

He's given his life to the club & deserves a job for life...

This could go on the Declan thread, but really, this about Nobes.

Noble, legend
Just seen that Noble has had the date of the last game at the Boleyn tatooed on his arm. Legend, bleeds claret & blue.
What will they do for his legacy? Does he deserve a stand named after him?

Re: Noble, legend
They will go large on the dvds, shirts, caps, nightdresses, keyrings etc in the store, but I highly doubt that they will petition their landlords to have a stand formally named after the bloke.

Re: Noble, legend
Legend you say... hmmm... if only we had a thread dating back to 2014 where people could debate that over 574 pages...
For what it is worth, he is a club legend in my eyes (not worthy of a stand though). I am desperate for us to win a trophy next season as it would be the perfect way to bow out. We have to go close in the League cup, we only have to play twice to reach the quarter finals.
Stands are for the likes of Moore, Bonds, Brooking and Lyall & Greenwood... not many others qualify.
Re: Mark Noble - West Ham Legend 500 up
His longevity alone makes him a club legend.
Personally think his gone on two seasons to many and it’s slightly sad to see this version of Nobes, the one which is struggling to keep up, can’t nip in for well time tackles and can’t get forward for a cheeky 25 strike on goal. It was no surprise our results when he started last season we’re very ordinary
Though if any bloke had a right to pick his own retirement day Nobes is the man thanks to his commitment.
Like others I doubt we will ever see a player wear the strip with such pride and passion. Definitely a club legend

I think he made his first team debut when Michael Carrick was still officially at the club?

Re: Mark Noble - West Ham Legend 500 up
He played a massive part in keeping us up the season before last and seemed delighted to be taking a back seat for the likes of Rice and Soucek to come through last season. He still put in a few very decent shifts for us and if you listen and read the views of the other players, he has been invaluable in terms of getting the squad through the very strange and difficult pandemic period.
His game has undoubtedly changed with age, but he is still clearly a very valued member of the squad so I'd argue that it is sad to see.
I'm delighted he has taken another year with us, it will be great to have him around with the additional load that the Europa league games will cause and we all get to give him the send off he truly deserves.
I was there when he made his debut in the League Cup against Southend in Aug 2004 and I fully intend to be there when he bows out 18 seasons later. Phenomenal effort in this current day.
