Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2021
if the 2 ''close signings'' are Areola and Perierra then that would be a good but long overdue start to our transfer business.
I'd like to see us go in for Tarkowski and then Abraham for the ST position and would be fairly happy. Wouldnt mind another LB too but probably wishful thinking

I reckon Ings and not Abraham is who we'll end up with.
Moyes has tried to sign him before and he's probably an easier get.

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2021
Areola won Fulham's player of the season and from what I've read and heard he was excellent for them, most saying they are the best they've had in the modern era and "up there with Van Der Sar" which bodes well.
One or two comments about his punches leading to one or two goals but you can let him off the odd mistake, even Fabianski made a couple of howlers last season.
Great signing, now just need to follow up with 3 more..

I think Ings is a better all round player than Abraham, and would suit our system. He's a very hard worker and willing runner. He's also decent with the ball at his feet and knows where the back of the net is. It's just his injury record that's an issue.

Can’t burst that bubble, he’d have had ideas in his head already, he was happy enough at the time.
I was being trite, I just really don’t think there’s a chance he goes anywhere.

If we could rotate Antonio and Ings, and maybe bring in a young forward as cover, that could work.Burnley Hammer wrote: ↑Thu Jul 29, 2021 12:44 pm I think Ings is a better all round player than Abraham, and would suit our system. Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2021
I don’t disagree. All round, Ings strikes me as a better footballer, and certainly much more capable of playing off Antonio and around a ‘10’ position than Abraham. Not his best position, but I think he’s capable of dropping deeper.Burnley Hammer wrote: ↑Thu Jul 29, 2021 12:44 pm I think Ings is a better all round player than Abraham, and would suit our system. He does lack some of the physical attributes Abraham has, and ones Moyes seems to like.
Sadly, I see Chelsea taking him as their Haaland and Lukaku bids flounder. Although there’s noise Lautaro Martinez is available and I’d pívot to him, if I were them.

Fab Areola - sounds good to me.
Having reliability between the posts helps with the nerves, defence and mine. Maybe can start getting back some of those lost years Roberto took off my life expectancy!

Very pleased with this. High praise from the Fulham fans by the sound of it. Can't say I saw him play loads last year but do remember him pulling off a few very good saves against us.The Green Man wrote: ↑Thu Jul 29, 2021 12:37 pm Areola won Fulham's player of the season and from what I've read and heard he was excellent for them, most saying they are the best they've had in the modern era and "up there with Van Der Sar" which bodes well.

As good as Fab has been for us the last few years, it's probably right to be planning for the future as he'll be 37 before the end of the season.
I do think there are more pressing priorities, but just because this looks to be the first over the line it doesn't mean it will be the only business this summer.

It's his injury record and price for me.Burnley Hammer wrote: ↑Thu Jul 29, 2021 12:44 pm I think Ings is a better all round player than Abraham, and would suit our system. Presumably he is looking for his last big contract at 29.
Obviously he is only 29 but are we likely going to have to replace both Antonio and Ings in 2 years if their respective injuries catch up with them?
Ings is a finisher and certainly think towards the end of his career he will offer something in the prem as an impact player.
Depends on cost over a 3-4 year deal.
That said he might fancy a rotation spot at Chelsea to prolong his career and win some medals.

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2021
If Areola is on his way surely Randolph is finished. The question is which club can we flog him to, who needs a goalkeeper?
