Defensively slow but to be fair 2 excellent crosses giving their players a chance where ours from not dissimilar positions have been generally pretty poor. Rice has been practically invisible true but equally Benrahma is no 10 - far better coming from the left where he has more space initially.

I agree we need a centre back so badly it’s embarrassing. On Moyes by the way, but I don’t care what any **** on here says Antonio as your number 9 is a ****ing joke. Watch the game, all his best work is done out wide. He is a winger simple as.funky chicken wrote: ↑Sun Aug 15, 2021 2:49 pm If anyone is questioning why Moyes is prioritising a centre half over a forward, just watch our defending in this first half. Shocking stuff!
I'd be tempted to shift Diop before deadline day and actually sign 2 centre halves, let alone 1.
As for Benrahma, he and his fan club can’t complain if Moyes treats him like he did last season. He’s been very poor.

I haven't been able to access the forum for half the match...is the server not being able to handle the traffic on matchday still a thing??

Dawson is becoming a liability, Cresswell can cross but is too slow to defend, Antonio’s touch and decision making as poor as ever. Already has the feel of a tough season. Having said that, they’re as poor at the back so we could still get something out of this!

If this half doesn't convince Moyes and Sullivan to stop dicking about to sign a CB nothing will.

At least we have plan B to look forward - come on Yarmy, Noble and Johnson.

Double figures for goals in the last two seasons. Couldn’t remember the last time he played on the wing.

Really poor defensively, feel they will score every time they get forward. Both cheap and avoidable goals conceded.
Looking busy going forward I must admit, although without really troubling the goalmouth.

Euro players look jaded
Ogbonna looks short of match fitness
Dawson looks to be the Dawson of last few games last season
Front four not holding the ball well enough
And will someone please tackle ASM when he’s taking two touches to control the football rather than when he’s up to speed?

So Mr Sullivan it's half time whats your view.
" Well clearly I'm glad I haven't spent any money on Centre backs these two are doing fine, I am concerned that the left back doesn't tackle. Striker wise be assured I;m, moving heaven and earth to get the El Salvadorian striker over the line, just got to find the 1000 copies of the beano.
Whats your hope for the second half " that we don't get beat by a shed load I still think its PAI's fault they have unsettled the fan base.

Surprise we need a CB, LB and CF.
Sloppy mistakes for goals and Bowen showed he is not a natural in front of goal.
Benny still looks as though he doesn't believe in himself.
Enough of the ball to get back in the game, but need to tighten up defensively
At this rate Benny first sub, shame no striker on the bench.

Re: ⚽ Newcastle Utd v West Ham Utd: match thread
We're passing it nicely in the middle third, carry a threat in the attacking third even if the final ball is a bit inconsistent but the performance in the defensive third has been atrocious.
Poor judgement, poor control, poor clearances, feeble in the air......awful stuff.
We can certainly score again, but it'd be amazing if this line up stopped Newcastle scoring again.

He is no winger unless he has acres of space in front of him. Reckon he has the close control to match either Bowen or Benrahma? All his stats show he is far more productive goal, and more importantly, assist wise through the middle.

Good entertaining game to watch so far. Sloppy defending by us though for both goals. Ball watching by Dawson and Fornals. But hey ho, could be 4-3 to either side. Want to see Rice get onto the game 2nd half. Looking forward to it.
