West Ham Utd 4-1 Leicester City (23/08/21)
My cup final has come around too soon, needed a bit longer to rest on last season's double over the Foxes.

Same team again, realistically the only likely change in the line up would be Dawson for Diop as we have no other genuine options.
If we beat Leicester then we really could have excellent start to the season and hopefully persuade some decent players to join us!
That being said, I’d be happy with a draw.

I don't understand why people don't rate Diop more? Would say him and Ogbonna are our strongest centre half pairing with Diop still only 24.
Confident if the starting XI stay fit we can beat Leicester.
Leicester are always a good barometer of where we are because every club outside top 4-6 see them as the example to follow.

Aside from his first 6 months here, he’s been pretty average, especially against some of the more agricultural teams.
That being said, there is a reasonable argument to say Diop is more suited to playing teams like Leicester or Newcastle when they play Maximan and Wilson up top.
Dawson is clearly the better option against Burnley, or Palace is they play Benteke for example.
However neither Diop or Dawson would start for any other team hoping to finish top 8, hence why we are trying to strengthen at CB.

Horses for courses. That’s why it’s good to have (different) options for each position rather than just like-for-like. Well, it would be nice for us to actually have ANY options, but you know what I mean…
Re: West Ham Utd V Leicester City: Match Thread
Neither goal were Fabs fault but thought he looked really flat footed all game, including back passes and save attempts
Wouldn’t be surprised to see Moyes give Aerola a start

This week, we travelled to a team that did the double over us last season and firmly put those demons behind us.
Next up, Leicester travel to a team that did the double over them last season. I don’t like where this is leading…

I'd be delighted with a point here. I'm also quite concerned at the pace they have on the bench and whilst Newcastle caused us problems, they don't have the quality that Leicester do.
Can see them finishing at least top 5 again this year to be honest.

It will be interesting to see how the to do this year, Vardy is winding down, can Iheanacho and Daka step up?

They're clearly a good side, but they were saved last year by Iheanacho remembering he's a footballer.

Re: West Ham Utd V Leicester City: Match Thread
Has anyone had their digital tickets through for this one yet? I've not had anything yet.
I've read all sorts here and there I'm now confused as to what I will receive for the season in general to get in?
As for the game, I cannot wait to get back in the ground with a full house. We have momentum, but even a point would be a good result and a solid start.

My money is on people starting to receive them on Friday but not everyone getting them. Followed by a weekend of hair pulling and teeth grinding while every way of contacting the ticket office is dead and then the final people receiving them at some time around 2pm on Monday.Overchuffed wrote: ↑Mon Aug 16, 2021 10:13 am Has anyone had their digital tickets through for this one yet? 3-3.
We go into the now customary 3 goal lead, Daka scores a couple to set up a week of people griping that we didn't bother going for him, some random sub like Albrighton scores after being on the pitch for 5 minutes in his only appearance until October.
