I think it was November 1959
We beat The Filth at WHL August / Sept 1983 2-0
Swindlehurst and Whitton .. I’m sure that took us to the top

It has probably happened since ( maybe 97-98 ) started very well then

I've just read Henry Winter's match report at The Times online and, considering some of the nonsense he has, written about us in the past (Tevez in particular), it was very balanced.
He mentioned the ongoing mistrust of the owners and the stadium's current unsuitability as a football ground.
Full of praise for the team's run of performances too

Our forward pressing was elite and the sole reason the Leicester centre backs could do nothing more than pass to one another.

First goal came directly from them looking for that pass into the midfield. Was the same pass the red card eventuated from

I agree about our press and that is something Moyes/back room staff have really worked on. It has taken time

Most of their play in the first half was passing between their defence deep in their half. You could see how we set up. Two solid banks of four with fornals and antonio sitting on the half way line just waiting/mistake.

I have also noticed when we press, we press as a team. You can see Fornals/Benny/Bowen (or whoever it is) who initiates that first press that they look behind them first before pressing to ensure that a) there is cover in the space is he leaving and b) that everyone is on the same wavelength in that the full back / CM following in behind them to stop/cut out the pass into the midfield.

The front four was outstanding last night. Quick, precise and strong. We really are a different side now going forward. It is really exciting to watch and fills me with such immense pride to watch this side at the moment.

And Rice bossed that midfield last night in that he made it look effortless in the end.

2 - Michail Antonio and Saïd Benrahma last night became the first players in @premierleague history to both score and assist a goal in both of their side's first two games of a campaign. Hammertime.

What a stat.

While I agree with the wider point, I'm convinced that for the first goal Vardy just doesn't see Rice because he's behind the ref momentarily.

Seen a few messages from people saying Neville was spot on with his post match comments? Does anyone have a link to their anaylsis?

All I got was a text from my old man saying they're trying to put a valuation on Rice again.

What a 1 - 2 between Fornals and Benrhama for the first goal. Top performances from all but Pablo was the Daddy of that game

People get so wound up by what pundits say and i don't know why. Both Caragher and Neville were very gushing about West Ham, they spent ages going on biut how good we are, and tbf Carragher always is

Crarragher rates Rice more than Neville - simply because Neville seems him more as a DM (and even an CB) whilst Carragher views him more asall round midfielder. It isn't that controversial that different people have different opinions. Neville still said that Rice and Soucek could play for any team in the league bar Man City - so he clearly does rate him highly, just doesn't think a club should pay 100m

People moan when our players get talked up by the media and they moan when they don't get the recognition/ plaudits they deserve!

Neville was talking about Rice and Soucek being able to get in any team in the country in their role bar Man City. Which I agree with.

They give us such a strong base that it means that we can basically leave our 4 forward players on the half-way line and when we break it's often 4 - 3 or 4 on 2.

It does leave us slightly open at the back at times, but then Moyes can change it and ask Bowen to drop deeper and he can play Fornals on the left as greater cover for Cresswell.

He has some options in his first XI, but it would be lovely to have someone who could allow us to play the same way we do now if ever Rice or Soucek are unavailable.
