I'm not putting a team up until they all return safely from the International break otherwise that is the ultimate jinx.

Re: ⚽ Southampton v West Ham Utd: match thread
Pending on no injuries over the intentional break the only 2 changes I want to see for now is Areola and Zouma in for Fabianski and Dawson.
Fabianski certainly doesn’t deserve anymore than 1 final chance. As he has let a lot of soft goals in recently. The 1st Gallagher goal last Saturday was like watching crisp packet hands Adrian back in goal. But if it’s especially the same starting back 4 that has really let us down so far this season I’ll be extremely annoyed with Moyes. He can’t keep saying he’s not happy with our defending and then still pick the same back line every week.

This is the kind of club that you'd want to double, if you've serious designs on finishing 5th or higher - i.e. improving on last season's showing.
We missed that chance against Palace.

Same. I think Moyes will give Fab one last chance but I think this is the perfect opportunity to switch Fab to being our cup keeper and Areola being our number one in the league.funky chicken wrote: ↑Wed Sep 01, 2021 1:30 pm Pending on no injuries over the intentional break the only 2 changes I want to see for now is Areola and Zouma in for Fabianski and Dawson.

Re: ⚽ Southampton v West Ham Utd: match thread
England and Czech play the weds before southampton game and this match marks the start of 7 games in 22 days for us.
Hopefully and likely Rice, Soucek and Coufal won't start all 3 games during the international break.
But certainly if Moyes is looking to rotate and mix and match his team over this busy period we might include this fixture to do it also.
Don't think we will ever see a full rotation of players (a full back up team) but maybe looking to give all big guns a bench spot 1 in 4 or 1 in 3 games.
Sure he has plans but see if we have any knocks after internationals.
I'd certainly be looking to start Antonio in this, plus Zagreb.

Re: ⚽ Southampton v West Ham Utd: match thread
If all return fit from international duty, I wouldn't be surprised if we start with the same starting 11 as we did v Palace.
Moyes seems to normally gives new signings a view from the bench before introducing them, to get a feel for the pace and team tactics. The most likely exception to that is Zouma, who is used to playing in the Prem.
Be great to have a stronger bench though.

I would think just Zouma too. It is good to change just one component in the defence at a time, if you canEthanadict wrote: ↑Wed Sep 01, 2021 1:56 pm If all return fit from international duty, I wouldn't be surprised if we start with the same starting 11 as we did v Palace.

Re: ⚽ Southampton v West Ham Utd: match thread
I reckon Dawson will be swapped out for Diop or Zouma, but other than that, I think he will keep his previous starting eleven.
I expect Moyes to introduce the newbies slowly and initially from the bench. It’ll be nice to actually have a few players on the bench that’ll be desperate to get on and make an impression.
Edit: I see Ethanadict has posted similar. Great minds and all that…

Assuming everybody is fit, same 11 but with Zouma in for Dawson.
Vlasic and Kral to come on from the bench.
I expect all the new boys to start in the cup Vs Man U.

The team pretty much picks itself these days, but I suspect Moyes might bring Zouma in for Dawson. Areola won't be getting a game yet I don't think.

Re: ⚽ Southampton v West Ham Utd: match thread
Not sure Vlasic will even be in the squad for this one.
He'll have been in Russia (playing there tonight) within 10 days of arriving in the UK. Given he's been playing in Russia for the last couple of years, I'd assume any vaccine he's had will have happened there - that means he's unlikely to have had a recognised vaccine under the UK rules, so he'd be treated as if he's unvaccinated.
Means the best he could do is go in for the test to release scheme and be out of quarantine after 5 days.
Kral may have a similar issue - Belgium and Belarus on amber list and possibly vaccinated in Russia.

Agreed, Dawson for Zouma would be the only change for me
