What a miserable and deluded bunch. Most of them just say we were "****" and that they should be beating a team like us. You wouldn't think they were a team that finished the last two seasons 12th and 10th.

Antonio doesn't elbow him, doesn't clatter him as he comes down, and appears to get his head to the ball before Pickford gets his glove to it. Genuinely, which specific bit is the foul?
If I understood Benitez correctly (unlikely), the bit where Antonio entered the six yard box while it was occupied by a goalkeeper :winker:

I really, really don’t get how anyone can look at our goal and say either
A) it was a foul on Pickford, or
B) it wasn’t a corner

Absolutely mental.

And what a weird bunch of deluded idiots they are.

To be fair I think the majority of their comments are spot on and they have every right to be miserable after the garbage they were served up.
I don't see a majority saying they should beat us either, just the odd one or two.

They seem far saltier than they normally are. Yes, historically they have been our bogey side, but since 15/16 we're about even. I think they have one more win than we do in that time. But we do have a better side than they do now, especially if we can figure out how to bring in a proper backup for Antonio in January. I'm not sure why they think they're automatically entitled to be a top 5 side. They haven't been close to that since Moyes was there.

Pickford £30m - Fabianski £6m
Coleman 500k - Johnson Free
Michael Keane £30m - Zouma £30m
Ben Godfrey £25m - Ogbonna £12m
Lucas Digne £18m - Cresswell £6m
Allan £21m - Rice Free
Doucoure £25m - Soucek £15m
Alex Iwobi £28m - Bowen £22m
Gray £1.7m - Fornals £20m
Townsend Free - Benrahma £25m
Rondon Free - Antonio £12m

And that's without mentioning the extortionate fees on Richarlison, Gomes, Kean, Tosun, Gbamin, Walcott and the rest.

It's not even close

One slight concern for me is that with Noble and Kral unavailable we filled the bench with defenders from the youth team.

Do we have no talent in midfield or attack who we think are potentially good enough?

It's great that we have a certain level of faith in Ashby and Baptiste, but we already had Dawson and Diop on the bench, surely Baptiste's place should have been taken by a player who can fill in for Noble or Kral rather than a 3rd CB?

The ref did well for our goal. I reckon 99% of refs would have wrongly awarded a foul against England's goalie.

They showed the Pickford/Antonio "incident" with the camera facing Antonio and it is very clear from that angle that no foul took place. There was no impediment of the GK.

Utterly refutes the notion that the ref was against us.

Aaron Cresswell cost £4m or thereabouts , definitely under £5m and Michail Antonio was around the £8m mark .

Really struggling to understand some of our comments yesterday let alone the Toffee ones. We don’t do performances like that almost ever in my lifetime, it was dominant in so many aspects. Deal with a bit of huff and puff and go again. I can’t see anything about that performance other than fantastic. As for Dec, geez is playing on a different level. Unfortunately.

As Oscar Wilde once said:

"The only thing worse than having a top level player who is different gravy and is attracting attention from the big clubs, is not having a top level player who is different gravy and is attracting attention from the big clubs. "

Wondering why we randomly lose at home to Brentford and then win away at Everton.

Lack of a pressing game by Everton?

Declan returning to his deeper role?

Bounce of the ball?

Brentford made us work much harder.
Their running and high press caused us problems.

Everton sat off us and let us dictate the game (which we accepted and did well at) Then they're didn't have the class to cause real problems.

Thought we deserved to beat Everton by more and on another day would have done Brentford.
But I'm a bit bias.

Pretty fair....the opposition played very differently and we struggled against Brentford for 20 mins until we could dictate the way we wanted to play, similarly v Leicester, where they allowed us to play in front of them Everton did the same. For me the area we struggled more was the breaking down of the Everton defence/the final third
