Not sure where this happened as we were on the last 2 coaches to leave the ground, didn't see anything. There was apparently an altercation before the game (heard a petrol bomb was thrown) but didn't hear too much about it out there.

We went back to Brussels after the game so could have been something in Genk town centre or Hasselt.
Hardly surprised after recently watching a documentary about Euro 2000, shared between Belgium and Holland.

Summary was that the Dutch police embraced the supporters, acted relaxed etc and nothing really happened in Netherlands as a result..

Meanwhile in Belgium their police went into the fans all guns blazing and acted as aggressor and it constantly kicked off as a result. Sounds like the Belgians haven't learned.

There's a video doing the rounds on whatsapp of one of ours losing a finger. Anyone know if there's any truth to this?

From the pics it looks a little weird, could only be ripped at the knuckle. How the hell that happens though?

Let's ask the master of misdirection :) :

I really dont want to have to keep seeing that finger.

Moyes hopefully learned something from that first half, and that could well be not to try that 3-4-2-1 again because it never worked, we never got into the right shape to play it and I would refuse to say we even did play it, such was the mess it was in the attempt. We may have tried, but we never really got it.

Bit of a mess until Lanzini and Benny took the game on.

I don't want to be insensitive, but at that looks like something from a joke shop, so I can understand the stewards not responding immediately.

If someone really did lose a finger, then my sympathies to them!

Genk did really well - had us running round in circles for most of the first half, and we have Areola and wayward shooting to thank for not being at least three down by the half. For much of the first half we were completely outgunned in midfield.
Top quality goal line clearance from Genk - really thought that was going in.

Looking at the match as a whole, both teams could come away thinking they could have won it. Credit to Genk - different team from the first leg.

Had a great day despite the 20 hours on the coach and getting back at 6am.

Went with a Jewish friend who many old skool know and wouldn’t tolerate being abused.

Heard a lot got arrested, mainly Dutch hammers, and I wouldn’t trust our stewards to put out a candle.

The disconnect between actually going and social media has never been wider.

The only sensible explanation is that his wedding ring got stuck after something and the finger got ripped off by moving his hand quickly without noticing.

I once had a woman at my office who lost her finger that way.....

Yeh I've seen it happen on a football net (although not a full on amputation) when someone jumped up to un clip the netting but what the bloody hell did he catch it on for that much force? Must have tried to jump up onto the gates at the front, but those bars look pretty thick.

Grim either way.

Might be an urban myth but I recall old Argentine keeper Nery Pompidou (sp) apparently catching his ring finger on the net hooks on the crossbar. Story stuck with me all these years on from 1986. As I say, not sure if it happened!

The jewellery explanation is perfectly plausible. An ex of mine lost half her index finger after a drunken stumble at a house party. Reached out for a rad to catch her fall and caught one of her rings on the lip which took the entire brunt of the fall. The tissue damage meant it was beyond reattaching.....it happens.

Not bussing half our lot back to town for an hour and in the conditions they did was a disgrace.

For all the talk of hundreds of millions in takeovers, selling our ground and artefacts, articles in the Sun etc etc, the lack of giving a flying f*** for our travelling support was the GSB canary in the cage.

All I’m reading about is a few twerps on a plane singing a purile song. Hundreds crammed into inadequate buses like cattle and leaving loads in an industrial park in the cold doesn’t seem to have merited a club statement or any column inches.

TBF you get sort of used to it.
