Re: Michail Antonio
Antonio seems to be judged to a harsher standard than other players. Benrahma for instance has offered little after a bright opening few games. Bowen has been hard working but awful in front of goal. These are not really criticisms of those players, just saying antonio is up and down like everyone else. If he played like he did at the start of the season every week we'd be eying top spot, fending off £50m bids from Man U. He really does need another striker to share the load but that's not his fault. Somehow when mic's off the pace it's 'laziness' or 'arrogance'

All strikers go through lean spells, this is his one, but be prepared the beast will come roaring back and hopefully it's tomorrow

Re: Michail Antonio
Am I right in thinking Chelsea are the only side in the top 7 Antonio has never scored against?
He must be due one against this mob.

My chelsea supporting workmate fears antonio like the devil. Interesting he hasn't scored against themfunky chicken wrote: ↑Fri Dec 03, 2021 8:07 pm Am I right in thinking Chelsea are the only side in the top 7 Antonio has never scored against?

I don't think he's lazy. I think Moyes has told him to conserve his energy and not press when we don't have the ball.

Re: Michail Antonio
Moyes must of told him to do that for the full 90 on Wednesday then. As he hardly moved.Pete647580 wrote: ↑Fri Dec 03, 2021 8:21 pm I don't think he's lazy. I think Moyes has told him to conserve his energy and not press when we don't have the ball.

I heard the only club in the top 7 Antonio hasn't scored against is absolutely massive.

Re: Michail Antonio
not sure he can play 3 games in a row. although he didnt do much on wess , so probably ok !
we need the proper antonio back for this one to engage their CBs allowing the 3 behind to get in and score.
I would probably benched ant today and bring him on last 25 mins if we are still in it !
suspect moyes will start him.
lets hope we see a good performance and a couple of antonio goals to get the bowl rocking !

Re: Michail Antonio
Is it just fatigue?
Not criticising or judging but for a year he's been running, dominating, holding up and scoring.
Last five games he's back to his previous form of years ago, losing possession and getting tired. If it's all due to fatigue then why play him for 90 minutes

Re: Michail Antonio
I don't know what the hell was up in the first half but he was absolutely dire. In the second half he was everything we have come to see from him. Pace, power, directness causing havoc in the defence. To drag it back takes some character, he probably knew it wasn't happening.
Keep fit and keep going Mic.

Re: Michail Antonio
I think I do - he had nobody close enough to him. Bowen being up front with him in the second half changed everything.wolf359 wrote: ↑Sat Dec 04, 2021 2:29 pm I don't know what the hell was up in the first half but he was absolutely dire. Re: Michail Antonio
Fair play he picked it up in the second half and played well. The turn and pass out to the right for the Bowen goal was fantastic play.
He is much better holding the ball up when he comes towards the ball. In the first half he was waiting for the ball to come to him, and inevitably we were losing possession each time it got to him.
Let’s hope the second half is the catalyst for some good performances moving forwards.

Re: Michail Antonio
On the one occasion 'waiting for the ball to come to him' worked out for him in the first half he ****ed up the pass, playing it 10 yards behind the player he was supposed to release.Centre Half wrote: ↑Sat Dec 04, 2021 4:28 pm He is much better holding the ball up when he comes towards the ball. A much improved second half. It's difficult to know whether he is told to conserve energy for the second half or what is going on, but that first half performance (and the majority of his recent performances) is just not good enough. He's not chasing down, he's not challenging for loose balls.
More of that second half performance please, Mike.

Re: Michail Antonio
What a great player, that cross for Bowen, he just muscled the Chelsea player off the ball, he might not score, but he's a great Team player !

Re: Michail Antonio
Poor first half especially letting Thiago rise unchallenged for their first but vastly improved second.
