Yet they're only two points behind us with a game in hand against Burnley.
The moment they over-take us, I'm going to get sooooo much grief with the amount of Spurs memes I've sent to Spud fans on my WhatsApp...
Ahhh well we had a good run at it, I’m still hoping that the whole Conte thing collapses into a festering ball of crap.
Been laughing since the super league catastrophe

You've been told, and the last word one-upmanship is really clear and obvious for everyone to see. Wind it in or go to the appropriate thread

Aaaw go on Conte, show the world what Spurs are made of. You can beat Brighton with 7 changes. You really can!

Brighton are down to the bare bones themselves - loads of injuries. Could look like a Carabao Cup game

Yet somehow if they win their game in hand against Burnley they'd be above us.........still can't understand how that's the case given how poor they've been.
Because actually the league side has not been that poor. Few bad games yes (Man Utd and Palace immediately spring to mind) but a lot of the hype is the delusional level of expectation their fans have.
They think they have some right to currently challenge the likes of Man City, Liverpool and Chelsea when in truth their current level is Man Utd, Arsenal and us.

Whilst you certainly have a point regarding the delusion of their fans, performance wise they’ve been shocking in a large number of games.
I’m pretty sure at one stage they went something like 4 hours without a shot on target, whilst Kane has one league goal to his name this season.
They seem to have managed to scrape a number of games by 1 goal whilst playing poorly (Norwich aside) and then losing quite heavily when they lose.

If we have to take a break as this variant sweeps through it may give us a breather until the January window. May give us a fighting chance with centre back loans.

Not sure I get what the difference to having 6 players out with Covid vs our entire back 4 plus one being out injured. FA had betterc not postpone matches for them.

Our injuries probably aren’t contagious, would be my guess.

was being tongue in cheek, nevertheless if you're out you're out.

Andy Carroll's injuries certainly were... took the Cont-ages to get back from an injury, played 3 games then back on the treatment table for 6 months...

Look at the Teams Conte has faced so far..
Vitesse (H)
Everton (A)
Leeds (H)
NS Mura (A)
Burnley (A) Postponed
Brentford (H)
Norwich (H)
Nuno Espirito Santo would gained similar results against that lot.
Lets see how they get on, when they actually play a decent side..

League wise , they've had 8 home games and 6 away and the bulk of their points have come at home against poor quality teams. They ****ed a win v Man City on the opening day.
A defeat is their most common result away from home. They've lost 4 out of 5 against the top 7, either home or away.
I think it's been mentioned in another thread but being ruthlessly consistent against teams 8-20 will put a team near the top even if they keep losing almost all their head to heads against other teams up at the top of the league. It's how Conte won a league at Chelsea. As soon as that consistency drops, so does the league position.

i don't really see what there is to mock. We wont be laughing if dawson and diop and others get it some time in the next 4 weeks or onwards, and that's not unlikely. we've already had team members who have already had other strains and the by all accounts the current one is worse.

And to add some granular detail to that, the Everton, Leeds and Brentford sides they faced were probably at their weakest points of the season due to injury. Leeds was basically a B team, Brentford obviously haven't been the same since Raya was crocked (unfortunately for us – he was the difference between us and them taking the points on the day given the second half siege), and if they play Brighton this week as planned, they have 8 first teamers out themselves.

The media will skip over Brighton's injuries. They are always keen to make excuses for the 'big 6'.

I had a look on one of the Tottenham forums to see if they knew who was actually ruled out and inadvertently discovered a brilliant nugget related to us – several who thought Bowen fouled Mendy on the weekend.
There's committed tribalism and then there's fan fiction like that.
