Hedgehog wheels are a must at most courses in winterJohnny Byrne's Boots wrote: ↑Thu Dec 02, 2021 11:40 am Purely a personal opinion, but from the illustration the wheels look quite narrow. There's a possibility they'll sink into muddy ground or at least be quite hard to push through it.

Re: The Golf Thread
Meant to be going out Sunday, but I fear I am becoming more & more a fair weather golfer.
Use to enjoy playing in the winter more as you could really target the pin as the greens were so receptive, but I think I prefer a longer putt in a polo shirt than the jumper/water proofs..

In milder temps I can play with a base and a t shirt
I find best outfit for winter is base , t shirt then a gortex jacket
Cover all basis
I also find the base holds the body in place and my strike improves lol

I wear my skiing base layer, tee shirt, polo and jumper with a buff around my neck (which doubles as a mask in the clubhouse ). Even on the coldest day I sometimes consider removing the jumper.

Which one? We have 4 lol
Yeah the course is deadly in the wind (depending what way)
When it's still it is very risk reward

Re: The Golf Thread
Finally managed to sneak a cheeky 9 holes in on Sunday, as we were at a family birthday party at The Cave Resort down in Faversham.
It's the old Boughton Golf Club and the course was in great condition and the greens were true and fast even at this time of the year. I scored 16 points playing off of 14, so was well happy with that.
My main gripe with the place is that after you finish your round, the only place you can go to is the their Korean Cowgirl Lounge... which basically wants to be a nightclub all day with no windows and no sports on TV. There were a few members who were outside on the decking, but it's not really that time of year for that.
Lovely course, **** place to be a member.

Managed to get out today , was gonna go somewhere else but as little one is still recovering from tonsillitis I decided stay local cut the travel. Had this planned for few weeks
Mate come down ingrebourne. It was surprisingly dry. Few puddles but mostly dry
Golf was good , hit a solid 36 points .. even with two doubles on the last 2
Nice when your mate keeps saying blimey never seen you drive this well
Been a trait since lockdown , I came back with a straight drive but since upgrading from a cobra f7 to a speedzone it's now straight and long

Re: The Golf Thread
Played the nine hole course at Sunbury today to finish in daylight. I went round in 40, not too shabby as it included two three putts. The greens were in very good condition so I can't even blame them but even driver shots stopped where they landed, no run on fairways at all.

Arranged a pre xmas round with the guys from the club on thursday
4 of us have a whatsapp group, one I met at the club the other two are colleagues I convinced to join. We decided to have a pre xmas round , just enjoy some good company and average golf
will be the last round of 2021 and then will send the clubs in for regripping ready for 2022

Re: The Golf Thread
Got two weeks off work from tomorrow afternoon.
3 rounds booked, 1 pre Xmas and 2 post.
Not a fan of winter golf but not having played for a few weeks really looking forward to being out in the open air.
Not expecting a great score just hoping for a decent round.
Post Xmas round will probably be where we all compare golf Christmas presents, usually which one is the worst.
Next year my aim will be arranging a KUMB golf day. Probably in Essex somewhere.

Re: The Golf Thread
36 points playing of 20.
Well pleased with that.
Few too many 3 putts which would have made a great score to a superb one.
Got another round booked on Wednesday. Can’t wait for that.
Absolute sort now working behind the bar too makes the post round beer even better!

Re: The Golf Thread
Regripped my irons yesterday.
Changed from Golf Pride Tour velvet midsize to Lamkin Midsize
Also changed ball to ProV1X (Christmas present) from Callaway Supersoft.
Shot 40 through 9 holes, 6 over. Pleased with that. Driving getting more consistent and putter behaving itself.
Handicap dropped to 18.2, going in the right direction.

Re: The Golf Thread
No complaints on the Lamkin grips.
Feel pretty much the same as the Golf Pride maybe slightly more tackier but they are new so guess that will wear off
I’ll persevere with Lamkins and then decide if I want to go back to the Golf Pride.
Horses for courses really
