Watford 1-4 West Ham Utd (28/12/21)

Post by Shabu »

By the time this game starts we could be 7th & end the day level on points with 8th.

Now that's not a terrible position for West Ham to be in. Unless you compare it with how we all felt after the Liverpool game. After that result we were 3rd & 3 points off 1st. Now we're NINETEEN points behind 1st place.

I'd switch things up big time for Watford because I'm useless at football tactics.

Areola
Fredericks Kral Dawson Longelo
Soucek Noble
Antonio Vlasic Okoflex
Bowen

You might say that team is ***** but they've never lost a game. NEVER!!!

Christ knows what Moyes can do to tighten us up defensively. As even 1 of the players who could help us (Rice) is suspended. Almost any idea you can think of with the players currently available is ‘lipstick on a pig’ territory.

I would probably go with:

———————————--———Areola———————————————

-Fredericks—-Johnson—-Dawson—Alese——-Longelo-

————————————-Kral——Soucek—————————————

———————————————-Vlasic——————————————

————————————Bowen——-Antonio——————————-

Subs: Fabianski, Coufal, Baptiste, Ashby, Noble, Lanzini, Benrhama, Okoflex, Perkins.

Diop, Masuaku and Yarmolenko are not good enough and are not the future. So why waste our time playing them? I’d rather give some more youngsters a chance on the bench. Same logic for the goalkeepers too. But Fabianski can stay on the bench, as he’s still better than Randolph.

I expect Noble will get the nod over Kral to replace Noble. What a sad state of affairs when you are having to rely on a retiring midfielder to come in and save the day.

They're the type of changes I'd be tempted to make too. Sometimes you need to take a risk.

The only thing different I'd do is perhaps find a place for Fornals in a deep central midfield position in order to help transition the ball. We're going to struggle to do that without Rice.

From 3 points off 1st to 19?! Wow

3-0 Watford. More misery which will see us clinging onto a top 10 position.

One thing is fir certain we can't keep playing masuaka at left back . Hopefully longello is good enough but if not then coufal or Johnson must play there

Not sure why we have to play again tomorrow though.sureky weds would have been OK

Areola
Coufal Dawson diop Johnson
Soucek kral noble
Bowen Antonio vlasic

Subs fabianski Fredericks Ashby longello alese fornals lanzini benrahma oxoflex

I would drop yarmolenko and masuaka from the squad as they are useless!

1-1 draw .respect the point !

Take Antonio off after an hour and give oxo a go !

Do I have it right? That we have played four games since Watford started their winter break on the 10th December?

If so, how is this fair?

Absolute shambles, we will struggle to stay with them unless we have some fresh legs to throw in.

I agree, about Oxo-Flex. He'd beef up our attacking options  :newthumb:

Shows how far we’ve fallen when many are saying a point from this would be a good result.

We need something to get us rolling again - we are looking low on confidence. I’d like to see funky chickens team. I wouldn’t be against the idea of hitting the reset button and starting again. We can be massive again but will take a massive result. We aren’t the first team to have a wobble and hit a rough patch - it’s how we come out of it that matters. 5-0 Watford. We’ve not hit rock bottom yet.

Our only good performances since we came back from the international break have been with a change of shape, and I can see Moyes trying that in the absence of Rice. There will also be some rotation, surely?

Probably be a lot of goals in this game. They score and concede at a rate of knots.

It's not fair, football is becoming increasingly unfair. Trouble is, outside of clubs like ours, nobody cares about what is fair.
Does that sound like I'm feeling 'sorry for myself?' Probably does, but it's not my intent. I've reluctantly accepted that the way it is and
what we're to deal with.
The game is being over-run by players who roll about holding their faces when someone has barely touched them, managers it seems are happy to 'get injured players' back on the pitch to stop the game, The captain of the England team continues, feet off the ground, to tear through players and yet according to the pundits 'ain't that type of player' ( apologies for nicking that point Gnome ). Referees, both at the game and elsewhere appear to make decisions based on who rather than what. Then the ' pundit's making light of it all, the bunch of sycophantic gurning ****wits that they are .
In the wild The Cheetah is endangered, in football, the cheater is thriving.
Truth is, I don't like the game much and haven't for some time but for all that, I love our club, and based on that, I say f*** the rest of 'em.

Brighton 5 points behind with a game in hand
Wolves 3 points behind
A host of other clubs geting close.

Big, big game for Moyes.
He gets to 1 win in 10 and in the current PL club model, you get into the territory of struggling to keep his job.

Needs to actually try and win the game from the first whistle.
