I wonder how Antonio got Covid? If he wore a mask, socially distanced and kept away from crowds then the chances of getting it are slim. I doubt if he uses public transport. The fact that you could infect other players and jeopardise the season is a good reason to be ultra careful. Is it irresponsible? Has he not observed due caution? Did he get vaccinated? Could be that someone infected coughed or sneezed in front of him but that begs the question, if that was the case, why did he put himself in a risky situation and not wearing a mask? Probably got it from his children.

He’s caught a very highly transmissible variant. It’s happening all over the country at the moment, there’s nothing really to see here.

Or maybe he simply caught it from a good friend or a family member. You can't expect people to live in isolation chambers.

Masks only really protect the people around you from you, not vice versa.

Moyes has confirmed he is double vaccinated and has no symptoms.

It's likely he caught it from a staff member at the ground, maybe his kids brought it home from school, supermarkets, restaurants. Etc.

Tbh even if we have him available for Watford and Palace it's a bonus.
I know he is not on form but we need the numbers over Xmas.

antonio on the bench today for me. can start against watford. give him a 20 min runout today

he has been poor but hopefully the rest and knowing a striker must be coming in soon will buck him up !

we need the full beast mode back soon

Pretty sure Moyes said that Antonio was asymptomatic.

Current (and insane) government advice is that if you're a close contact but have been vaccinated you needn't isolate.

Only Salah (24!) and Dennis (13) have been directly involved in more goal than Antonio (12).

Bowen (10) joint 5th.

Thought he played well today

However he needs to sharpen up his finishing If he is now a striker .. that chance where he went for pure power straight at keeper.. bit of finesse and it's game over

Good assist tho

Last year he scored 14 and assisted 10 in the premier league, that’s a really impressive year.

Since having his covid induced break he’s scored 2 and assisted 1 in 2.5 games, hopefully it’s a sign he’s getting back to his best!

Fairly interesting podcast with Micky (and Callum Wilson unfortunately!) especially around our transfer window and the need for a striker to keep him sharp and competitive:

Around the 20 min mark or just before.
