Most overrated and underrated players

Underrated - Benrahma/Johnson

Edit: Put Soucek as slightly overrated but changed my mind.

Not sure there is an overrated really. Think we tend to be overly critical in the main.

Overrated - Slaven Bilic

Both really good centrebacks, one rode the uplift in the others form to compliment each other and liked really cool music so got hero worshipped whilst the other was only highly regarded after we sold him north of the border.

A big fan of Rice but why does my heart sink when he takes a shot or stands over a free kick?
He's being indulged at the moment. Soucek stifled because of it.
I don't think any are overrated. Fornals probably underrated along with Areola.

Underrated - Lanzini was always my one but he's been getting love again recently, so i'll say Ogbonna - have thought this a long time and showing his importance now (and last season's run in too) in his absence. Also think the amount of stick Yarmolenko gets is OTT but I imagine this is a solitary opinion..

Overrated - as said above, the youth team products all get overrated (Johnson, Ashby, Coventry for example but it's always the case) - caveat, every club's fan's do this though. So alternative = Dawson. Diop gets x10 the stick because he doesn't throw himself at the ball as much as doesn't score as many but Daws gives me just as many palpitations and also gives the ball away much more with his passing.

I think Ben Johnson is overrated by virtue of some thinking he's underrated in this thread.

Underrated: Fredericks, when he's fit. Which is usually 2 games a season.
And Cresswell, arguably one of our most underrated players of the last 20 years.

From his short stint, I will forever remember Bilic as one of the greatest CBs ever to play for us, whether rightly or wrongly.

Rieper I will forever remember for falling over on the halfway line and gifting a winning goal to Forest on the coldest, most miserable match I've ever been to. He was a very good player though, but don't remember too many being upset when we sold him to Celtic for not huge money.

Underrated - By no means the case anymore, but was always surprised at how few originally rated Ogbonna in his first couple of seasons. I thought he was mustard from the get go.

Overrated - Ben Johnson (academy curse). He's improved this season but he's still the biggest culprit for wasting possession in our first team.

Overrated has to be Rice, just because of the disproportionate praise he receives compared to every other player. Obviously he's brilliant & potentially world class but pundits and the like make out that he's our only good player and that we're helpless without him when the team have actually done pretty well in his absence.

Underrated I'm going to go with Benrahma - was our joint top scorer for a while, overall goal involvement similar to Bowen's, yet seems to be a lot of people's scapegoat whilst Bowen is untouchable. Definitely has things he can improve on and needs to impact games more, but clearly a very skilful player who is more than pulling his weight.

Overrated = Benrahma, I might be in the minority here but all I see from him is a show pony he is in my opinion no better than the F2 Freestylers on YouTube

Underrated = Ben Johnson the lad is just fantastic for someone so young to have most of hes opponents in hes back pocket if he can add an attacking element to hes game we will struggle to keep hold of him
