Thanks UtJ, very interesting. As I thought, most of the better ones wont be released by their clubs this January (apart from Botman perhaps). No CF analysis though?

Re: January 2022 Transfer Window
Its the general lack of ambition no decent striker for nearly 2 years people will point to 'Dithering Dave' but the fish rots from the head down we 'very had years of under investment Gold and Sullivan agreeing fee's with clubs only then to renegotiate terms and the deal collapses, We agree deals with clubs then it collapses for one reason or another the board will not pay £10m for someone out of contract at the end of the season. Let's not forget we are, Where we are despite of the board not because of them. We've been in and around the top 4 3 times now once at the Boleyn, Last season and now and again and every single time they don't put the money in for that final push needed this season will be no different

U ok hun?WestcliffHammer wrote: ↑Tue Jan 11, 2022 2:12 pm We have zero ambition as a football club Lingard apparently going to Spurs for £10m, £10m is absolute peanuts im todays football terms. This club is on the brink of something great and every single time we are let down!
Re: January 2022 Transfer Window
I still think Lingard is the key.
Last season his goals/assists replaced (indeed in my view exceeded) any contribution we might have got from Haller over a similar period of games, he was the replacement squad wise and I suspect Moyes would like him again if the terms are acceptable. We know though wage wise we will not compete with the likes of Newcastle or Spurs now or in the summer.
If it becomes clear he is not coming then we either move for a permanent signing if it is a player we would be happy with long term (unlikely in a January window as those players are likely vital to the teams they are at) or a loan if they are not available. Similar will happen at CB I believe.

If Lingard ends up going to Spurs, I hope he gets booed.
I’m not usually one for it, but it would be an insult

Yep his impact was crucial.Gsbgsb wrote: ↑Tue Jan 11, 2022 2:49 pm I still think Lingard is the key.

However we also need to consider that his contribution to goals could be covered by other players in the squad - it already seems that Bowen, Fornals, Benrahma, Lanzini and Vlasic are on course to get more goal contributions than last year.

Re: January 2022 Transfer Window
OK. We all know we had a few iffy results in the lead up to Christmas and even now, it can still get a bit squeamish watching Dawson and Diop at the back, but overall, they've done an OK ish job and that's probably how the decision makers at the club see it too. So if we can plug the holes and keep the ship afloat until Zouma returns, without shelling out for another central defender, that's a result so far as they are concerned

Re: January 2022 Transfer Window
£10m is nothing in modern day football but they won't pay it for someone whose contract ends at the end of the season. What is the point of Kretinsky being on board if we baulk at the idea of paying £10m for someone who would fit straight into the squad knows the place and players?

Wijndal & Botman are both nice players. The former, especially, will be a big-time player soon.

It's also being reported that he wants £200k a week.WestcliffHammer wrote: ↑Tue Jan 11, 2022 3:05 pm £10m is nothing in modern day football but they won't pay it for someone whose contract ends at the end of the season. Should we be paying that in the name of 'ambition', when we have Lanzini, Fornals, Bowen, Vlasic and Benrahma already?

To keep the players you mentioned add Rice to that list you need to show ambition absolutelyBubbles Fortuna wrote: ↑Tue Jan 11, 2022 3:09 pm It's also being reported that he wants £200k a week.

I also don’t think we should be forced to pay way and above for him. If he doesn’t want to come then I wish him the best and we move on.

£200k a week for Jesse Lingard.
Don’t be silly.
There’s literally only one player who would be close to worth that for us.

Signing Lingard for £200k a week isn't ambition, it's desperation.WestcliffHammer wrote: ↑Tue Jan 11, 2022 3:12 pm To keep the players you mentioned add Rice to that list you need to show ambition absolutely
