We can't but we will they won't pay £10m for someone out of contract at the end of the season
Rumour is that Spurs want to enter into a pre contract agreement meaning he doesn't join them until the summer.

If so he can join them on a free

You cannot enter into pre-contract agreement with a player from the same league.

Wouldn't be surprised to see rashford on the move soon. God knows how much he would cost. I know he's struggled lately but I think lack of game time or keep being pushed out as a winger to make space for the likes of cavani has held him back.

Obviously not an Antonio type striker but if Moyes wants a fast counter attacking striker he could do a job. Wasn't someone the other day suggesting we might be looking to break our transfer record? Can't be many strikers left that sully hasn't already brought are there?

The guy reporting the Lingard to spurs story is also saying that anything happening is likely to be at the end of the season. That’s the way I think this will pan out, with Lingard having lots of choices as a free agent.
My money is on Lingard going to Newcastle, should they stay up, as I they will buy big.

I don't think Rashford is good enough to mitigate his fee and salary. Don't get me wrong he is very decent when on form and wouldn't want to come to us currently.

But there are better CFs and better wingers for £50m likely fee and £10m a year salary.

Ndombele is on £200k a week allegedly, which surprised me – I guess Spurs started upping their wage brackets around the time Kane needed to be kept happy. But at £54m + £200k a week it makes the Haller deal look positively successful. Surly Seb never got booed off the pitch by us, if nothing else. But it would mean they could countenance paying Jlingz £200k a week in a way we probably wouldn't.

Spurs have low key been the worst club in the transfer market for years, including Everton.

Other than Højbjerg, no unquestionable successes – either rated by consistent form or value for money – since Wanyama, who arrived so long ago Payet was still playing for us.

Wooohooo I managed to log in.....

As much as I want to have Lingard return, if it's £200k a week then we should be moving on from him.

Queue me being placed back on the naughty can't log in step for days

£10m and 100k a week minium for 4 years (i assume that would be the minimum duration his agent would accept) is not good business or a bargain for a 29 year old. I’ve been the first to slate GSB over the years for no ambition but that deal just sounds bad all around especially when you consider we have needs at CF, CB and LB.

We should be spending that money, but on the right places imo. I don’t understand the hysteria about him potentially going to Spurs at all.

£10m is a bloody good price for Lingard, it can be argued that his contribution last season helped us qualify for Europa which is worth way in excess of £10m.

£100k per week is £30k per week less then what Yarmo is currently on.

The full list since Wanyama. If you were being kind you could include Moura, but otherwise that is a shedload of expensive mediocrity.

Bryan Gil
Emerson Royal
Pape Sarr
Cristian Romero
Pierluigi Gollini
Brandon Austin
Giovani Lo Celso
Sergio Reguilón
Matt Doherty
Pierre-Emile Höjbjerg
Joe Rodon
Carlos Vinícius
Joe Hart
Gareth Bale
Tanguy Ndombélé
Steven Bergwijn
Ryan Sessegnon
Jack Clarke
Gedson Fernandes
Davinson Sánchez
Lucas Moura
Serge Aurier
Fernando Llorente
Juan Foyth
Paulo Gazzaniga
Moussa Sissoko
Vincent Janssen
Georges-Kevin N'Koudou
Pau López
Victor Wanyama

I do think Westcliffhammer raises a very valid point. What is the ****ing point of having Kretinski and his dough, if the geezer had nointention of spending any of it ?

Moura has been a success, Champions League exploits alone, but the rest is pure muddled thinking. Different managers, proper refusal to back Pochettino too. There's a few in there that are projects, some "could come goods", a few gap fillers etc but so many of them cos they never just went full whack at it properly.

Hasn't he supposedly dealt with the £100m+ debt?

Maybe he sees the club as an investment and not a black hole to chuck his money down? Most businessmen actually like making money!

I see some of us have entered the 'desperately want any player, at whatever cost, just because' phase of the window.

Jessie Lingard is older than Lucas Digne...
Lucas Digne is in his late 50's by all accounts...
Jessie Lingard wants 200k pw and a min 4 year deal at this stage of his career, meaning in 4 years time when he's ****, even older & probably, (at his age), will have dementia but still be paid 200k pw...
Only Rice is worth that money to us...

On the subject of lingard, if you were keen to make the England squad what manager would you rather be under? The emotionally unstable Conte or moyes who probably owns Lingard PJs?
Plus Lingard likely walks into our first team whereas I'm not sure he does at spurs.
Either way, hope the rumours to spurs are BS.
