Or they have £10m targets that they think will keep them in the league and are selling their misfiring striker to fund it.

Re: January 2022 Transfer Window
What are you going to offer for Kelly - £30m plus because that is what Bournemouth might value him at given the money they will receive if they achieve promotion this year and it is far more likely with him than without.
Yes we might want XYZ but their are numerous reasons why the current club might not want to sell in January when they are well placed for the riches of the PL, CL or whatever. It is why Newcastle (who are both desperate and can afford it) are paying so far over the odds for Woods. Let’s be conservative, it is a £20m fee, say a 3-4 year deal on £80k a week. That is risking the better part of £30-35m for a player who, if they stay up, might have no more than 20 starts for them given the return of Wilson and likely further investment in strikers over the summer.
Bereton Diaz is another example, current flavour of the month (this years Toney), Blackburn would price him way up there this month given their position. If they come up he will be tested (anyone seriously suggesting Toney for the sort of fees mentioned last year now). If they do not his price is likely to drop if he presses for the move.

Re: January 2022 Transfer Window
yeah, they probably only need to score 2 more goals this season when you consider how **** their relegation rivals are.El brooko79 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 11, 2022 8:03 pm Plus if they get Wilson back and get another option he will make a good plan B/direct option.
2 goals could be the difference between relegation.
If you have £20m spare it's smart business
(cue us now dropping points against norwich tomorrow night!)

Why would a Scottish kid move to Bologna, then decide to leave 2 years later when he's still only 19, and doing really well there? Do kids just go abroad for temporary experience?

Re: January 2022 Transfer Window
Burnley should just turn around and offer the whole £20m to Blackburn for Brereton.
He may be the entire reason they are currently sitting in the playoffs but I don't think they're in a position to be turning that down for a player that will be walking away for nothing in a few months time.
It comes off Dyche is a genius, it fails and they've got the goals to fire themselves straight back up.

I think Wood is a really sensible signing for Newcastle. I think he’s quite underrated and is used to playing teams in the bottom half / battling relegation.
It also severely weakens one of their relegation rivals. I thought Burnley would be relegated even with Wood so I think they’ll definitely go now.

Broja scores again. Pity he’s Chelsea’s, something distasteful about buying their factory farm produce.

Would laugh if Wood turns round and rejects Newcastle. Have some self-respect, man!

Because Bologna is a stepping stone. He would jump at the chance to work with Moyes.steveyrockstar wrote: ↑Tue Jan 11, 2022 9:08 pm Why would a Scottish kid move to Bologna, then decide to leave 2 years later when he's still only 19, and doing really well there? Re: January 2022 Transfer Window
Brentford have next year's relegation candidates written all over them and we should be looking at picking up three when we play them away.
Ivan Toney must be about £5m-£10m now rather than £30m. Armstrong, last year's Brereton. rarely starts for Southampton.

There's a reason for that :lol:bubbles1966 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 11, 2022 9:21 pm

Re: January 2022 Transfer Window
One of the biggest disappointments in the league this season, IMO. He wins some headers, makes a few nice touches and scores pens here and there, but other than that I think he’s been way too hyped.bubbles1966 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 11, 2022 9:21 pm Ivan Toney must be about £5m-£10m now rather than £30m.

Re: January 2022 Transfer Window
I don’t mind Toney and he offers a lot more than goals but I did call it in the summer - there’s just a finesse deficit with him that would make the step up difficult. He’ll be playing PL football for the next few years regardless of whether Brentford stay up though.
Re: January 2022 Transfer Window
I’m sure he’ll stay in the league for a few seasons, purely because of the hype, but I don’t think he’ll ever really make the step up and become an established PL player. It looks like he can hardly move - not sure if he’s carrying long term injuries(?) or whether he’s just incredibly slow.Aceface wrote: ↑Tue Jan 11, 2022 9:32 pm I don’t mind Toney and he offers a lot more than goals but I did call it in the summer - there’s just a finesse deficit with him that would make the step up difficult.
