I'm sure I was reading a few weeks ago about how close he was to an England call-up. Must admit, my right eyebrow did position halfway up my forehead at an acute angle.
Yep. I think many have got caught up in the whole ‘player released from big club, moved up the leagues, playing for a lesser club’ story.
Bit of a handful but no way near England international level.

Ivan Toney must be about £5m-£10m now rather than £30m. Armstrong, last year's Brereton. rarely starts for Southampton.
Ivan Toney is the natural successor to Zaha at Palace...
Looks really good on YouTube, scores a few penalties, has a very petulant look when a team mate passes a great ball which he misses & has fancy hair...
If Brentford go down he's nailed on for Palace....

He was better than Smalling and Evans, and both have been very good away from the Man Utd fishbowl.
See - that's opinions. I'd say both those have been good rather than very good post Man U but fair play to them. Personally I'd rate Smalling the best of the 3 (based on his MU career - I haven't followed him in Italy) but still prone to a mistake. Jonny Evans was the steadiest for me and won a lot of balls you'd have made him second favourite for.
Jones was 3rd of the 3 imo...

The curious thing about Toney is he’s been in the rolling Whoscored team of the season the entire way as the highest rated striker in the league.
They score 'aerials' highly. Same reason Carroll and Haller were always world-beaters on whoscored.
Still marvelling at that Hickey stat of 0.1 crosses per game. Am I right in thinking that means he crosses it once every ten games? The sense of occasion when it happens must be brilliant. Like one of those tropical flowers that only bloom once a decade.

Hate to think how they work out a cross success rate from less than four crosses on average a season….if he plays every league game. It’s either going to be amazing or rubbish!

I'm still chuckling at the image someone has conjured up on twitter of chris wood waiting from Saint-Maximin to complete his 30 stepovers before delivering a cross.
All the strikers we've been linked with and not 1 signed yet
Shouid have had one by now, I'm wondering if we're being played by the board again in another transfer window, normal shi# we tried but just couidnt get it over the line, bet when a big offer comes in for rice won't take em long to get the money and run

Meh - Evans was always behind Jones in the team, so I would say he was second best at the worst.

Maxi Cornet has West Ham target written all over him when Burnley go down.
They've probably got two or three TBF.
I like Charlie Taylor, and obviously Tarkowski is a target. I also think Browning would have made a useful squad player. He's full of energy and breaks up a lot of play in midfield. Would have probably got more minutes for us than Kral.
Hickey’s goal-scoring ability down the flanks has made him very useful to his employers, not one for scoring a scrappy effort. A low piledriver against Genoa sticks out, alongside an effort finding its way in against Lazio despite Lazzari trying to match the Scotsman’s tenacity – a fierce strike eventually bundled in.
This goal-scoring streak will please his Serbian manager, Mihajlovic’s playing career dominated by audacious goals even when utilised as a defensive option. Hickey has praised his Bologna boss in interviews, the perfect manager for Hickey to express himself fully under.
His attacking style of play is also seen in Hickey’s constant aggression, a constant desire to chase after the ball and advance The Red and Blues further up the field. In moments of immense pressure on the ball, Bologna’s number 3 is aggressive in inserting himself into the battle but also calm in playing his fellow teammates into space.
Often, aggression and tenacity isn’t matched by a calmness on the ball but Hickey’s game is extremely well-rounded for a player just shy of 20. A defensive steel to his game also demands he’s played as a full-back option, blocking balls into the box and challenging to start a Bologna counter-attack.
Hickey’s strengths lie in retrieving the ball with a last-ditch challenge, before executing a new attack with skill. His wonder-strike against Sassuolo stole the headlines, an arrowed shot leaving Gianluca Pegolo rooted to his spot, but Bologna’s clean sheet in that match was also indicative of Hickey’s defensive work.

This bollox again.
How much have we spent on our team in recent years? How many big money sales have we made lately?
We don't need a striker this window. A cheap loan by all means but what we do need is to upgrade Antonio and that will probably be in the summer.

Why why why at £20 is Wood good enough for Newcastle but he can’t do a job
Leading the line for us?
Surely
I’d be okay with Wood or Origi but you sense Moyes is looking for better, which you have to admire. On reflection how far do Wood and Origi advance West Ham? We are 5th so next step is UCL. Are these the players to take us there?
