Everytime Starmer goes on the sick Rayner completely destroys The Liar at PMQ's. He might be better just leaving her to it.

I don't think it's BJ that needs to be worried, but Vanilla Starmer won't be best pleased:
"I've heard on the grapevine there might be a vacancy for Prime Minister soon, so maybe I should show aspiration."

I’m not surprised that this has eventually risen its head. However, I’d be genuinely surprised if it actually came to pass. Corbyn is undoubtedly somebody who could win as an independent, but it would be a riskier strategy as there will be “Labour” voters who will vote for the party. I think one of the things that Corbyn has been sensible about is maintaining his foot in the Labour tent, as prior to 2015 he would have lost his seat had he went independent.

Also, the Corbyn party (whatever it would be called) would not pan out well for allies who would join and stand. The vast majority of the votes obtained by the party would be in Corbyn’s own constituency, with others polling double digits or low triple figures.

That's the only hope for the Tories. That Jezza breaks away and sets up his own party and take his disciples with him, splitting the party in two.

I don't see this as a likely outcome. Up until losing the whip, he has been a Labour MP for donkey's, so I think he will remain loyal to it and I don't see him as vindictive.

Then again mental illness runs in the family, so he could flip to be a narcissistic maniac?

I would assume many of his disciples are already gone. Plenty were on social media cutting up membership cards the day SKS was elected leader, with others following shortly afterwards.

I think he'll be forced to run as an independent if he wants to keep The People's Republic of North Islington under his charms. Can't see him having the organisational nous (personally or around him) to set up a party for others to defect to though.

Of course, if he really wanted to make positive change in people's lives and not just be an eternal campaigner he could have run for Mayor of London. He'd have run Khan close.

I actually think it'd be good for Labour if he did that.

Not only would he draw a lot of the crazy, Momentum types away from the party, but it'd also provide a clear distinction in the eyes of the electorate between the "loony left", "socialist" red militant Corbynistas and the regular left of centre Labour party.

It'd also take away the Tory favouring media's favourite line of attack about voting Labour and getting the loonies in.

It would also help Labour to take votes off of moderate Tory voters disaffected by.... welll..... everything the Tories do.

It would really only need Starmer to grow a personality, or else for Labour to replace Rayner with someone who doesn't come across as a screeching harpie.

I'm with Sendo on this - him taking the tankies out of the party will probably make them seem a lot more electable.

^^ Same here, as much as I'd like to see the back of them Corbyn and his parasites must know they can't exist without a host to hide in. They are buried deep in Labour's colon and it'll need more than an irrigation to flush them out........

He might not be too badly off for funding .
A number of unions, including big ones like Unite , are reviewing / cutting the level of funding they give to Labour.

How long before a Steptoe based organisation turned into a hotbed of infighting and purity wars? Half the problem with the far left is that they are almost endlessly fighting like rats in a sack.

NEC elections are fairly soon, after this they should be able to replace many of the cranks that supported Corbyn here with people that are a bit less mad.

Bad news for the Tories. Now Labour just needs some realistic policies, and continue to get out in the media. Something they failed to do under Corbyn unless you where signed up to all things Red.

It's interesting, because if Starmer can get shot of Corbyn and his pals, it will actually be a monumental achievement and one that will allow Labour to move forward quickly.

Having worked in massive, slow-moving organisations with key players who are unwilling to change and unwilling to see things another way, I know how hard it is to bring change, and if he does manage to get the hard-left faction out of the party within ihs first 2 years I would see that as a decent rate of success and something that bodes well for the future.
