Mr. Chairman* needs to say to the young man "What can we do to keep you here long term and build a team around you ?"

To which the likely response would be well to build a team/squad around me capable of winning titles like the club I will move to is going to cost you £750m or more and at least double your wage bill, got that sort of money?

Whatever we do this season is irrelevant to Rice’s long term future.

Rice goes when it suits him to do so based around the identity of the suitor and what they will pay him or in 18 months because we cannot afford to lose him on a reduced fee as his contract runs down.

He, not the club, hold all the cards unless he is daft enough to be advised by Kane’s brother and signs a long term contract without a release clause.

The fundamentals haven't changed. We know that if our first team are fit and firing we can give anyone a game.

There has been no lack of commitment on the pitch, nobody is hiding, we have been undone by injuries.

January will be a chance to strengthen the squad and hopefully see some key players returning from injury.

no not really

I honestly in at least the short term, showing some ambition and bringing in some quality would help.

and then we'd have the basis of a bloody good team should/when he decides on a big move and we wouldn't need 6-8 players to maintain our competitiveness. we could "top up" the squad and keep the left over to continue having a good team

we're not winning the league.
we're not coming 2nd
hell we're not even coming in 3rd.

top 6 regularly would be great. Europa League quarters and then semis within a shout would get us 2/3rd tier players.

great scouting could see us getting a 3rd tier player who becomes a 1st tier player who we keep for a few years, sell on and re-invest.

I'd be over the moon with that.

after all Moyes said he wants to be a Red Bull Model. that's how you get there.

buy a cheap Haaland, Sancho or Bellingham...................

Woke up this morning , and have decided to take down the Xmas lights early , to stop the slide.

Still in the top half of the table, and in the Euro league, and FA.

January is almost here, and expecting 2 decent signings, CF and a CD.

We can turn this around, COYI.

It doesn't matter how bad things might get. Doesn't matter if we don't win another game. Doesn't matter if we're relegated next year, and the year after that, and the year after that, and the year after that. Doesn't matter.

I'll never wake up to find that I'm a Sheffield United supporter, and that feels fanf***ingtastic.

Still haven’t lost a Wembley final since 1923. 99 years now ! (I’m not including Charity Shield games as they’re glorified friendlies)

Seeing Diop struggle, Johnson out of position, Lanzini reborn, Antonio erratic brilliance, Dawson going to ground more than Swampy, Benni’s misfiring, hell even Arthur going AWOL - it’s all been for the better.

Stuff the transfers - I’d rather get injuries back and have this good look at what we’ve got.

The growth of these players, almost nurtured by Rice’s brilliance, is the best thing to see. It’s what we’re here for.

Over halfway through the season and we have the current 4th highest goal scorer in the League (Antonio) and the player with the 3rd highest amount of assists (Bowen).

I think we are already safe with 37 points this year. Not been bottom half since 2020 .

I saw this posted by a spurs fan on Twitter…

Are the recent attendances a worry?

45,603 vs Chelsea cup Semi Final (5,792 Chelsea)

40,310 vs Morecambe

40,539 vs Palace

40,031 vs West Ham (6,000 West Ham)

45,421 vs Liverpool

Understand Covid/Cost/Near Christmas BUT

West Ham had 59,775 vs Norwich & 54,303 vs Leeds

Surely it isn’t hard to work out - we are massive and you are… well you know what you are… Spursy.

The season isn't over because we lost to Man Utd, and aren't 4th anymore.

Still so much to play for.

And only another week of the transfer thread too!!
