Lingard was playing at an unsustainable level. He has never done better in his whole career.

The Croatians believe Vlasic is going to be their future star playmaker and he comes from a family of sporting excellence. Once he’s bedded in he will be incredibly influential. The way he uses space is magnificent.

I think he’s a really good player.

And he looks like a more “rough around the edges” version of Ted from Schitt’s Creek.

This self-righteous “We don’t do that here” drivel in regards to going down easily does my head in. Every attacking player for every other club in the pyramid is guilty of it yet we should put ourselves at a disadvantage cause of some delusion that we’re a more honourable club than anyone else.

He hasn’t even done any outrageous ones yet.

Can just imagine him getting into his blue scrubs after a game and going to tend to his animals.

If his other half looks anything like Alexis then she’d be more than welcome at our club as well.

I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume that analogy made more sense in your head.

There's no need, and skip the deflection.

So, would you lower yourself just because others do it?

I'm reminded of Brian Clough (even though he died when I was young..!).

'I want to win it better'.

It would be great to do something special with an honest team.

It would be a great antidote to the antics that we see (and the media don't) from the Sly 6 clubs.

I'm in Vlasic's corner and I think he's starting to look like he fits in. I'm not sure I'd say his ceiling is considerably higher than Lingard's though, because even if Jesse only scores 5 rather than 9, he'd still be well ahead of most of the players in our side. Goals are king.

That being said, Vlasic has scored more career goals than Lingard despite being 5 years younger.

I don''t see how we can rage at Calum Wilson punching the ball in the net, and then be happy when Hernandez does it, if we have a shred of class or integrity.

And if Salah falling over with a vague gust of wind appals us, then we can't turn a blind eye when ours (incl Vlasic) do it.

50% of them in the Russian league, but I take ur point. I'm rooting for him to replicate that form with us. We need it.

Lingard is someone who people always said was a “promising young player” even in his late 20s!

I think Vlasic shows the sort of commitment to his career that will propel him higher. Lingard was too happy to rest on his laurels at Man Utd.

His lack of ambition is pretty startling. He chose to sit around at Man Utd, where he knew he had virtually no chance of becoming a starter, over moving.

I wouldn't. Well, not "just because". However if it was common practice and I saw others were being handsomely rewarded for doing so I might reconsider.

Would you do it for a £5m a year?

I'm not condoning our players start out and out diving, but I'm not going to dig them out for "going down easy" while having their shorts pulled down from behind, or for accepting a free kick when they slipped while turning (arguably with a little push). Not when opposition players are getting rewarded with match-winning free kicks and penalties from out-and-out dives every week.

^^^ I must admit that this is where I'm at too. Citeh revert to shithousery anytime the opposition steps over the halfway line; Salah and Kane go down faster than the late Ms. Lovelace and you'd easily be convinced that Arsenal's entire team had run into a machine gun nest.

The problem is that neither the idiots at PMGOL, nor the PL, nor the FA won't address this ****. Was Lanzini the only player to get a ban for diving? By the same token, Salah would miss every other game.

There comes a point where, if the authorities won't clamp down on the worst offenders, then, if you can't beat them, you may as well join them.

I don't think there's any moral high ground to be had here .... If I've got a choice of winning by a bit of shithousery or losing because of someone else's shithousery, I'll take the former thanks very much.
