Marcelo Bielsa has confirmed that Patrick Bamford will not be available to play for Leeds United against West Ham in the Premier League on Sunday.
Speaking to the media on Friday ahead of Leeds’ trip to the London Stadium, Bielsa revealed that Bamford, 28, is still short of match fitness.
"His recovery still hasn’t been finalised,” said the Leeds manager.

This is how difficult it is for people at Bielsa's press conference to be honest.
Both views taken from the same press conference ....two different interpretations of it. I listened to some of it and just got bored and gave up....so I don't know what he actually confirmed.

I would be inclined to believe Phil Hay as their main journalist. He must be able to understand Bielsa or his translator by now.
Reckon he is more lucky on that score than I am with the lottery of kumb log ins.

Hopefully Firpo plays, that’s the area we want to target. Coufal and Bowen could have a field day. Leeds have been beaten by us 4 times in 4 games and everything about them makes them a perfect opponent for us. We have to get 3 points. Soucek back if the situation for him to return is ok. Tough choice who misses out though…

It'll be the same as all of our recent games against them. Lots of huff and puff from Leeds, might even let them dominate possession, and then we'll win the game with one or two moments of quality because we just have better players than them.Georgee Paris wrote: ↑Fri Jan 14, 2022 9:26 am I think they will be like a whole different prospect to the cup game. I have a feeling we may be in for a nasty surprise.
Firpo, Phillips, Cooper. Struijk, Roberts, Llorente all missing and what are probably their 4 most exciting young/fringe players in Cresswell, Shackleton, Gelhardt and Greenwood. Actually quite surprised they haven't found some of those COVID tests Liverpool used last week.

I think this will be a tougher game than the FA Cup one. For a starters their best player, Raphinha is likely to start it. Bamford could also be back. Plus, we may have Soucek still missing. Although to be fair if you are going to have less physical presence in the team the likes of Norwich and Leeds would be the teams you’d prefer to be missing them in.
If Soucek is okay then he comes in for either Fornals or Lanzini. As harsh as that is on the pair of them!
I don’t know why, but after the surprise return of Cresswell I have a funny feeling Zouma may feature on Sunday. Especially to get a game under his belt before the big one next weekend.

Re: ⚽ West Ham Utd v Leeds Utd: match thread
Am I right in thinking we've beaten them in our last 4 meetings, all since they got promoted?
For that reason, it seems like they're due something against us, but I just can't see anything other than a home win on Sunday given all their reported injury woes. Mind you, they frustrated us a fair bit in the cup, so who knows?

I thought Bamford was defo out, but seems Bielsa has said in his presser that he should be back, along with Rodrigo.

Re: ⚽ West Ham Utd v Leeds Utd: match thread
From Moyes presser
When you play Sunday-Wednesday-Sunday you’re always liable to pick up injuries with the schedule.
We have one or two knocks that we need to assess.
Kurt is on his way back and has started back in training, but all the clubs have got situations, whether it’s injuries or COVID, and we have to deal with it as best we can.
I don’t want to be specific on who’s got COVID and who has injuries, but you’re right we had Tomáš Souček and Mark Noble out on Wednesday, but we’re hopeful we might get one of them back.
We’ve also had some other players who have had COVID, like all the clubs we have injuries and COVID and are trying to work through it.

I like how Moyes is deliberately vague so as to keep people guessing as to whether Soucek will play.

I posted in the transfer thread that a certain Chairman (and associates) seem to be keeping it buttoned these days.hammerman11 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 14, 2022 2:14 pm long may it last. old school moyes doing his best for WHU. no leaks on team formation or new signings.
