Re: January 2022 Transfer Window
Martial getting stick for saying he didn't want to be in the Man U squad after Man U reject offers for him after opening the door for him to move
Lingard getting stick for always doing what he is told and not pushing for a move...it apparently means he doesn't want to move enough
Hmmmmm

Re: January 2022 Transfer Window
Just watched highlights of the Luton vs Bournemouth game. I won’t judge a player purely on just 1 game. But Christ, if Lloyd Kelly defends that badly every week I wouldn’t touch him with a bargepole! And that was against a bang average Championship side.

Re: January 2022 Transfer Window
Reading between the lines, Lingard may want to join us but we can't offer him the wages he is on but as a free agent in the summer, we could (no fee involved). Also Lanzini will be leaving then to go back to S. America, leaving an AM vacancy. We are not desperate for AMs now so it makes perfect sense but is it viable as things could change between now and then? I certainly can't see him going to Newcastle, potential relegation and no European football.

Re: January 2022 Transfer Window
This Lanzini to South America thing wasn’t an actual agreement though was it? The story was a while back. I read it was that if he goes anywhere, he’d like to go back to South America but wasn’t in a particular rush to get there.Hamburger wrote: ↑Sun Jan 16, 2022 8:14 am Reading between the lines, Lingard may want to join us but we can't offer him the wages he is on but as a free agent in the summer, we could (no fee involved). Or has something else come out since then?

Re: January 2022 Transfer Window
Lanzini wants to be in his World Cup squad and may not achieve that on the bench here so if he is left out of the qualifiers in a couple of weeks, I think his mind will be made up. Also with only a year left on his contract, we would need to sell this summer to get anything for him, albeit not a lot. This was a recent interview.......
Speaking to TyC Sports, the attacking midfielder said: “River are an institution that has nothing to envy the big clubs in Europe. They treated my entire group very well, we did well too. Obviously it makes you want to return to a club of River’s magnitude and above with the plus that is Gallardo. Hopefully I can return to the Argentine national team because you want to always be representing your country. I know I have to continue with this level, playing, so that it takes me back to being so.”

Disgusting isn’t it, I wouldn’t want a bloke like that anywhere near our clubDublinDave wrote: ↑Sun Jan 16, 2022 4:07 am Martial refused to play or even to be on the bench for a game of football..?
He's a footballer being paid 300k pw to play football ffs...
I don't like Man U but I hope they dock Martial at least a months for being a dick...
Footballers take the p!ss, in any other walk of life that'd be a gross misconduct firing & a p45 in the post...
Never wanted Martial here, (has a touch of the Haller's)

Re: January 2022 Transfer Window
I was under the impression that Lanzini had been in the starting line up, a lot lately.

Re: January 2022 Transfer Window
Yes, only recently, but that could change, especially if Lingard joined. I think he'd be guaranteed a place at River.

Same here. When watching the Quest EFL highlights usually he strikes me as being very composed with good distribution qualities.funky chicken wrote: ↑Sun Jan 16, 2022 7:38 am Just watched highlights of the Luton vs Bournemouth game. Last night though he looked very poor in the air.

Re: January 2022 Transfer Window
I'd have martial here on loan with an option. His time at Man Utd is up and playing a 19 year old over him takes the piss a bit, I can see why he's not happy.
If we can benefit from it then why not?

Re: January 2022 Transfer Window
To be fair being good in the air never strikes me as being one of his strengths anyway. I was just as alarmed at his positioning. He looked like a rabbit caught in the headlights for their 2nd goal.Essexmaniac wrote: ↑Sun Jan 16, 2022 8:51 am Same here. Again like I said I won’t judge him purely on 1 game. But it’s slightly worrying that he can defend that badly against an at best average Championship team. If you can’t defend well against Luton what the hell is he doing to be like facing the likes of Liverpool, Arsenal, Leicester etc.? The fact Eddie Howe signed him who couldn’t build a solid defence for toffee is just as concerning.

Re: January 2022 Transfer Window
There is not a hope in hell we sell Lanzini this summer, especially not to a club like River Plate. What are they going to pay for someone with a year left on his deal? £5/6m maybe? At that price it's not worth adding replacing him onto the list of transfer jobs Moyes & Newman are going to have to sort out.
May as well let him see out his deal and kick that problem into next summer.
