Finding our level.
Won 1 in 8(?) And then when we beat Norwich (just) and Watford, then reserve Leeds team, people think we are on a roll.
Reality is we have been stuttering for quite some time.

Re: ⚽ West Ham Utd v Leeds Utd: match thread
Shows how messed up it is, that was our 5th game since Xmas and Leeds 2nd, Arsenal allegedly abusing the rules to get their game postponed, are we too honest as well as having a thin squad, our bench just can't fill the holes or change the game, Auther and Yarmo offered nothing when they came on.
Get some youth on the bench, they may come on and show a bit of passion and desire to win.

Poor day at the office. Leeds deserved the win.
Trying to look at the positives, were the subs (particularly a 17 year old to bring us back into the game) a symbolic gesture to the board that reinforcements are needed?
On to Man U

Poor performance.
Diop and Cresswell were terrible, pretty gutless imo.
Oh how we miss Souceck, Lanzini a passenger all afternoon, he ain't getting in the Argentina team playing like that.
Can't imagine what Kral has been doing in training to not get a look in.

To be fair Cluckers he might want to have a look at himself first.
His management of the game was a shambles.

Re: ⚽ West Ham Utd v Leeds Utd: match thread
Attacking midfield wasn't the problem today. We just didn't get those players in the game. The support for them was poor. Distribution out from the back was abysmal. Our passing game was way off and time after time we gave the ball straight back to them. If we're going to play the tactic of having defenders that hit it long then we at least need defenders that can pass the ball. This is not the first game where this has been an issue. The leakiness of our defence and their quality on the ball is where the problem lies. Not with our attacking players.
Re: ⚽ West Ham Utd v Leeds Utd: match thread
Moyes definitely had a part in that. Leeds destroyed us down the wings, and he didn’t do anything to stop that. Bringing Arthur on for Vlasic didn’t help at all, if anything, made us worse both attacking and defending.
Our reall trouble came from being completely unable to pass out from the back. Part of that is covered up by Soucek, but part is that Dawson, Diop and Coufal are terrible passers. Creswell , who is clearly our best passing defender is still not back to 100% and clearly can’t play two matches on a week yet.
The other thing that didn’t help is that Antonio was hoping pp% ineffective as an outlet for the first hour. And then spent the last half hour on the wing, so when he was able to provide an outlet, we didn’t have a centre forward .
The fact that Kral didn’t get on the pitch is the biggest indictment of him so far, and I can’t believe he’ll be here at the end of the window

Re: ⚽ West Ham Utd v Leeds Utd: match thread
You have to give credit to Leeds today, despite all of those injuries, they never gave up, kept playing, so fair play.
You have to question the integrity of the game though, the fact we had to squeeze in the Norwich game a few days ago, a game we were ready to play at the time of postponement, whilst Spurs and Arsenal have yet another weekend off, both without European football will be able to fit the rearranged games in with ease..
Anyway, congratulations Leeds, did yourselves proud.
On to Man Utd we go..

I think I prefer mid table mediocrity, I can't handle the stress of either a relation battle or a fight for the top 4.

Re: ⚽ West Ham Utd v Leeds Utd: match thread
Fair play to Leeds, stuck to their game plan, bossed midfield and cut out every attacking option we had when we had the ball. You could see the platers getting frustrated with there being no proper options on and it showed with their 3rd and ruled out 4th.
We had no answers, nothing as much as a credible plan b or the performance to even create something special out of nothing.
Even towards the end we were just running into dead ends and the one real chance we got, Bowen should have buried and a draw was something we really didn't deserve.
We move on. No stand outs in that shower of **** performance today and all credit begrudgingly to Leeds who comfortably killed us off

Re: ⚽ West Ham Utd v Leeds Utd: match thread
Should start with crucifying himself.Clucking Bell wrote: ↑Sun Jan 16, 2022 4:01 pm Moyes has every right to crucify half the team after that. Leeds had half their first team out injured; they are forced into two changes inside twenty minutes and we somehow contrive to make Ayling and Harrison look like footballers.
I know I shouldn't be surprised after fifty-odd years of watching this but, it really pisses me off that every time we get an opportunity to close the gap to the teams above us and create a bit of daylight with those below, that we just have to West Ham the **** out of it.

That was peak Pellegrini today from Moyes.
Sitting on his hands while the opposition midfield run riot off the back of Noble….

Re: ⚽ West Ham Utd v Leeds Utd: match thread
Masuaku and Yarmolenko need to go this window. Masuaku in particular offers absolutely nothing in value to the team, and I have no doubts whatsoever that Longelo would be better. His level is certainly not the prem.
Yarmolenko is a player I was very excited about when we signed, but he just doesn't do anything for the team anymore. He may pop up with the odd goal, but so would a league one player who would at least put a shift in too.
Every game they get brought on and a little piece of me dies. It feels like we're either giving up on trying to win/equalise, or want to make it hard for ourselves to hold onto a lead.

they wanted it more, out worked us never gave players time on the ball, we didnt change or adapt, moyes should have bought kral on to steady the midfield, some shocking performances old trafford next lets hope zouma is fit, coufal gets rested for fredricks and we at last get some new signings in
