Leeds in the league or the FA cup

Post by ChzMff » Sun Jan 16, 2022 7:11 pm

Would you have preferred a win today and be out of the FA cup or losing last week but 3 points today?

League all day long. We won’t win the FA Cup anyway.

My number 1 priority is to win the Europa League, with finishing 4th a close 2nd. FA Cup is last on my list.

Any Prem team can win the FA Cup. Just ask Wigan and Portsmouth fans.

What a bizarre post. 4th wins you sweet fanny Adams.

If we win the Europa then it doesn't really matter where we finish in the league. So to answer your question, FA Cup. The reverse is probably true for Leeds (they are in a relegation fight) and it showed.

The FA Cup is worthless nowadays. 4th = more money which gives us a bigger budget to strengthen the squad and give us more of an opportunity to compete for more silverware. The Europa League is my number 1 priority as you get a major trophy and Champions League football.

Who gives a toss about Budget. Could not care less.

Winning the FA Cup is something that will stay with you as a fan for rest of your life and as part of the club's history forever.

That's fine, we all want to win the Europa and the Fa Cup. So let's target both

But this thread was not about the Europa League.

Plus saying the FA Cup is worthless is simply not true.

FA Cup
Winning a trophy is remembered forever.
Achieving any league position other than top or bottom three is less important.

This clubs history is steeped in memories of the FA Cup starting with the White Horse final, the War Cup right through to that horrible day in Cardiff. We are also the last all English team to win and the last team not from the top flight to win and as such its in our blood.
To dismiss it as worthless is an insult to all of us.

It relates to my answer, which is an answer to the question of the thread.

We’ve won the FA Cup 3 times in our history. More than quite a lot of clubs. How many times have we played in the Champions League?

Mushy I agree entirely. But because you have quoted my post can I point out that it may look like it was me who claimed that the FA Cup is worthless.

It was in fact another poster.

None. But if we ever do get there it won't be any where near as memorable or as big an achievement than Winning the FA Cup.

So again. FA Cup over League, always. Even in a relegation battle.
