I don't know if Marco Silva is getting a different tune out of Mitrovic but the Champonship's leading scorer looks a completely different story this season than ever before. If you haven't seen his goals yesterday then take a look
I have always said NO to him and guess I'm still not certain, but I do believe had we had him in our team today, we would've won the game. There is no way, he would missed the late, late chance Bowen cocked up near the end. That would've ended up in the back if the net

We are also, what? Two and half seasons (if that) in to this building process, which Moyes has undertaken..

We have taken giant strides in such a short space of time, that the smaller steps we take from now on, shouldn't be mistaken for backwards steps.

If we don't buy players this January forget about getting them in the summer as this squad will not win anything this season and if we come 8th or below our targets will not come to us in 5he summer and rice will go definitely

We are in danger of missing a step if we don’t invest in this window imho.

We have to bring players in . Anyone who says otherwise has absolutely no ambition whatsoever there's no other explanation .

I'm 100% in the get new players I'm camp.
But I'd say most of those saying otherwise are just against filling our squad with long term average players.

I am sure we are after loans and they don't really become available until late in the window

Wilko1304 wrote: Sun Jan 16, 2022 6:49 pm Does need to be remembered we were extra short because of Covid (Soucek) and the AFCON (Benrahma) so usually Yarmolenko and Perkins would have been nowhere near the pitch.
To be honest, I think that flags up the problem - we have a usable squad of about 17 players: 2 goalies, 2 RB, 1 LB, 4CB (of which at least 1 is decidedly suspect), 2 DM, 5AM, 1 ST - plus a couple of crocks/codgers/calamities like Fred, Noble, Yarmo and Masuaku. When a couple of the outfield players are out through injury or covid, we're thin as paper with nothing on the bench to change the game.

We desperately need an alternative/long-term replacement for Antonio.
We desperately need a better option than Diop at the back (and for this we should be looking for Ogbonna's replacement)
We need Coufal to remember how to defend.
We need a cover/long-term replacement for Creswell.
We need someone apart from Rice who can carry the ball forward, so we don't continually give up possession like today, hoofballing from the back straight to the opposition.

This is it for me. If we don’t strengthen at least at centre back and up front this window I believe we will finish 7th. If that happens Rice and probably Bowen will most likely be gone in the summer. Where does that leave the ‘building process’?

Who's bidding the money we want for Rice in the summer?

7th would still be a brilliant season for us, we were in a relegation fight two years ago!

We absolutely need to improve in defence and we need another forward player of quality, no one is denying that. But January is a horrific time to try and buy players for a reasonable price!

Don’t you get bored of just jumping on everyone who disagrees with your point of view?!

Who do you think is gonna pay the money we want for Rice? Man City, Man Utd or Chelsea obviously. I expect Aston Villa supporters were thinking the same as you last summer.

Also, I’m not sure 7th is a great season when you’ve spent most of the season in 4th? Especially when you have a transfer window to utilise and strengthen but choose not to do so, I would say it’s a very disappointing season. Who cares whether we were in a relegation a couple of seasons ago, the past is a dangerous place to live.

Watching the Marseille v Lille game, we should drop another £10m on Fonte. He’s having a blinder, 38 and he’s still better than Diop!

Did Moyes and Fonte ever cross over? I bet that would have been good.
