I am seriously beginning to wonder if Moyes is really too interested in further team strengthening for the moment, since it is ano established fact, he likes to work with a small and settled squad of players

I dont think you're ever likely to see a glut of signings at one time under Moyes. Think Bilic in 2016 when nine players arrived, or Pelly when another 9 arrived. Even in January 2018 Moyes sold a couple of forwards, and brought in one who warmed the bench. What we know now is that Moyes will use what he has to the best advantage, will potentially sign players on loan with a longer term view of purchasing them outright, and is likely to spend big on a few players who will progress the team. Notwithstanding Hugill, Moyes has purchased frugally but sensibly, and has also repurposed players to get the best out of them. In short, even now, he won't look to bring in players for strengthening purposes, or players that might upset the balance.

The issue with Origi is that he hasn't played regular first team football since he was 19, we literally have no idea if he's any good. He's a punt for anyone, but the sort of punt Moyes is usually good at.
I don’t, I understand he has done well but he really isn’t this superstar CF that we can only sign Salah, Kane or Haaland to compete with him.

Shouldn’t be relying on a 7m pound winger we signed 6/7 years ago.

Here's hoping we get another Tomas Soucek rolling in on January 29th. Loan to buy. Lovely.

On the cusp of something special, if only we’d invest on 2 or 3 quality players to add to the squad, we’d really be in with a shot of sustaining top 6 regularly.
Our song is so apt. Fortunes always hiding.

Not sure if it’s overrating Antonio but more not knowing enough about Origi to make a solid judgement. I haven’t been overly impressed whenever I’ve seen Origi play and the Liverpool fans don’t seem to think he’s great either.

Could be upgrade on Antonio? Sure. We could upgrade on any player in the squad apart from Rice, but Antonio has put in some brilliant numbers and lead the line for us fantastically over the last couple of seasons. It’s also being able to afford the upgrades and whether those players suit what Moyes wants from his players/team.

I think he'd bite your hand off for a decent CB and back up to Antonio.

I know we have all had a rant about transfers after the result yesterday, myself included, but I do think we will get a couple players in to try to strengthen in January.

We have shown with Bowen and Soucek recently that we are not afraid to make moves to improve the squad in January.

It will more than likely happen in the last week of the window, but I do think it’ll happen.

Exactly. I am certain Moyes will sign someone at the pram of their abilities.

Agree to an extent, but our squad is one of the smallest? And we potentially will be playing more games than most, so although there's no need for panic, we do need to sign players, and the longer it goes on without us signing anyone, the more some fan's will get impatient, that's modern football for you.

Same old excuses - we will finish 3 points and counting outside where we could have. Look where the extra 3 points could have had us last season.

Just hope we don’t waste a great opportunity to really go for it, on the cusp of something special.
We can’t say that often.
Do the club really want it though ?

I am sure the last window was similar then Zouma, Vlasic and Kral turned up.... I think?

Areola might have been done earlier in the window, it seems a lifetime ago, I can't remember. :chin:
