Thank You For The Good Times Moyes, but Little By Little you're testing our patience.

It’s always us and Newcastle linked with x defender. Makes me just think it’s agent bull again. I’m pretty sure most SSN rumours cone from agents tbh

You can probably be fairly certain that our 'main target' will also be the main target of other clubs, in which case we'd need back-up targets anyway.

In retrospect, it seems we held off signing a striker last Jan because we were dead-set on Tammy Abraham, who ended up joining Roma for a ridiculous £40m. We were probably also interested in Toney, but any hope of that deal ended with Brentford's promotion.

I still fancy a punt on Sarr of Watford in the summer, though.

Yep, us and Newcastle come as a double-pack for CB links.

The only issue if Newcastle are interested, is that they will just pay the full amount upfront.. whereas Sullivan...

Doesn't matter if a player prefers us over them, in this instance, as he won't have much of a say under those circumstances.

Hopefully linking Newcastle is just lazy journalism, or at the very least the players club, and or agent forcing our hand..

hammer1975 wrote: Mon Jan 17, 2022 6:32 pm I still think they are waiting until later in the window deliberately. Waiting to see if any of Zouma, Cresswell or Antonio break down - which may dictate where we need to spend as a priority out of those three roles. Waiting to see what’s likely to be on the market - Moyes may feel he’s shopping with half the shop closed off and thinks it may open up a bit in the last week of the window….and probably waiting for Lingard to make his mind up.

Think we should move on regarding the last point personally but get the first two.
I think a few clubs are also waiting to see if Newcastle cash comes in for players before they take less spread over 4 - 5 years.

If Newcastle sign all the players they've been linked to there won't be any left out there (literally).

Newcastle are thrown into every link now by the media and agents

I think both Szalai and Caleta-Car are good candidates for long term Ogbonna replacements. Moyes has certainly been aware of them for some time now. Whether they made it to his final shortlist or not... who knows.

I can't help but think that the names left on his shortlist are Tarkowski, Phillips, Lloyd Kelly, and Phil Jones. Everyone else has been scribbled out.

January -

Szalai
Maja - Loan

Summer -

Broja - Loan with a view
Lingard - Free
Hickey
Maja - if he impresses on loan.

Try to get rid of Diop, Masuaku and Yarmolenko along the way.

Liked the look of him at the Euros. Decent Oggy replacement and not just a stop gap I imagine. Also shouldn't blow the transfer budget if a stiker becomes available.

If Moyes likes small squads then fair enough but that small squad has to be filled with high quality. I'd have taken El Ghazi on loan over the dross that came on yesterday (Perkins excluded)

Could do a lot worse than Sanchez till the end of the season. Hard worker, very good technique.

The reason you know its bull**** it that, as usual, it is West Ham and Newcastle are interested....every single news story its the same. Damn agents.

I’ve tried Google Translate, but they don’t offer to translate into English from ‘sh*t 90s song lyrics’.

Have I missed anything?

Don't they already have Rico Henry in that position? Thought he was one of their most coveted players, oddly someone we've been linked with in the past.

FWIW, whoscored's top 10 players who aren't owned by the top 7....

1. AM: Raphinha (Leeds)
2. AM: Saint Maximin (Newcastle)
3. CM: McGinn (Aston Villa)
4. CM: Bissouma (Brighton)
5. CF: Toney (Brentford)
6. AM: Dennis (Watford)
7. CM: Tielemans (Leicester)
8. CM: Ward-Prowse (Southampton)
9. CB: Saiss (Wolves)
10. AM: McNeil (Burnley)

Bubbling just under and just inside the top 50 in the PL are Duffy (Brighton), Kilman (Wolves)

I'd say some of those are gettable if you're willing to wave just £20m about - and almost all are for £40m or less.

In positions 13-16 are Trakowski, Josh King, Charlie Taylor (highest rated full back) and Adama Traore.

Strikes me that this should be something like a domestic target list.
