I don’t believe any transfer rumours now, whether they’re from Sky, TalkSPORT, Twitter, Ex or ITKs on here. Moyes seems to have stopped most, if not all, of the leaks regarding players coming in or out, with the majority of rumours out there being old news or fake news.

And it’s brilliant to see.

It's Newmans job to find suitable players that he thinks fits what Moyes is looking for. He then presents these players to the manager. It's still down to Moyes to make the final decision, do his due-diligence, etc. Newman isn't going to go out and buy a load of players over the managers head - that's not what he's there for.

The really strange thing is that all the 'my hairdresser told me' or rumours that involve sightings of moving vans arriving to gated houses near Romford have disappeared too. Which given they were based entirely on bull**** in the first place doesn't make sense that they've dried up in parallel with the actual leaks being plugged. If anything it should be boom time, like what happens during prohibition.

We could sign Hlozek, Carvalho and Buchanan tomorrow and none would play in our only remaining premier league match of the window. People would be happy but it would make no difference to waiting a week

It's funny, I'd actually find that a really annoying window if we signed those three. Not because they're bad but I don't think they'd make a blind bit of difference to the rest of our season.

I really want us to populate each position with two good immediately interchangeable options (or at least get as close to that as we can) before going for the 'one for the future' route. It feels like we're maybe only two windows away from getting there.

i.e. I'm team 'sign 28 year olds'. For the time being.

Worked dried up for her when phone boxes became less common so she wasn't spending as much time in hotels.

Agree its his job but signing players in Jan is never easy. And the budget he used to have and market he was looking at previously has probably also changed.

It's certainly down to Moyes to give the green light.

Good point.

By the same token there may also be players made available by selling clubs next week, that are not currently deemed available this week - sometimes clubs have a re-think towards the end of a transfer window in terms of whether they are willing to let players go and can drop the price somewhat.

If I could sign 3 players now from the list of players we've been linked with at some point it would be

Szalai (or Caleta-Car)
Lingard
Cabral

and my top priorities during the summer would be a left-back and a defensive midfielder (Kamara would be fantasic).

The next five years not the next five months. Patience is clearly something you lack.

I don't think Newman should really be judged on this window, I don't know what staffing, systems, infrastructure and target lists were then when he came in, but he's only recently appointed staff. If you think of the funnel of possibles that need to be analysed and scouted to get to the ones who might be worth signing then the due diligence to get there I really don't think he's had time to generate many new ideas. I expect he is largely working on ones that had already been identified or ones he already knew from his time at City - who may not be appropriate for our budget or style of play. I hope he brings a few names to the table, but the real benefit of his work will be seen in the future.

Do you have a list of PL successes from that ''hot bed'' league?
I didn’t say there was a list of successes, I intimated you’re a moron if you instantly write someone off because of where they currently play. Pretty sure if we’d operated on that model then Lanzini wouldn’t be plying his trade for us.

Completely agree. It’s quite strange to see people clamouring for certain people to give out info on here and elsewhere when Moyes has clearly stopped all that nonsense.
