I’d love to know if we even tried, I’d have thought after how he performed we would have and why he didn’t wanna come or we didn’t try hard enough I dunno. Now I don’t care about him going Newcastle, we have after positions we need. I think they’ll stay up though, him & Saint Maxim should work wonders together
The most common line was that OGS didn't want him to go and it would have apparently taken £30m to prise him away last summer, which we weren't prepared to pay.

Even Moyes said as such.

Yes.
Do Newcastle have a manager who is able to fix this?
No.
They can sign all the players they like, but Eddie Howes teams simply do not know how to defend, until that changes, they're going down.
I would agree with you …. until I look at the teams around them. Unless those others improve Newcastle have a good 50/50 chance if they can improve their squad, even if their defence remains a problem.

Push on? We stayed in the league by only 5 points just 2 years ago. Last year we finished 6th, our highest League position since 1998/99. And 22 games into this season are currently sitting in 4th place. With a strong chance of finishing no lower than 7th place and achieving a rare 2nd successive season in a European competition. Alongside reaching the quarter finals of the Carabao Cup, still being in the FA Cup and being in the knockout rounds of the Europa.

How much more do you want to push on!? :D

We were told when we moved to this stadium we would have a world class team for a world class stadium and be challenging for Champions League we have achieved what you posted yes but we have twice been on the cusp of the Champions League at this point in the season and haven't shown the ambition to get it over over line

Mildly amused that the Telegraph have since reported that it was a loan move. And it was rejected.

Yes which does put into greater perspective the point someone made about being below Newcastle and Everton next season is ok as we were below them 2 years ago I guess. 🤡

Enjoy the ride. We’ve had more cr*p seasons than I’ve had hot dinners. So just enjoy it when we do have some great seasons, like we are right now.

Let’s not sounds like Spurs fans. :newthumb:

Not passing judgement on which approach is the correct one, but interesting to note Conte this week expressed the diametrically opposite view to Moyes.
Conte is desperate to add to his squad this month – Spurs have not yet made a signing – and he suggested that even lower-quality recruits would do. “If there is the opportunity and also if it’s not the best opportunity … we need to do something,” he said. “We have to supplement the squad because it is not so big.”

Having two decent seasons back to back is more progress than we've made in the last 30 years.

This one is not over yet, we've not got 40 points in the board, anything is possible.

I dont think people can really gripe at Lingard taking the Barcode money if they're offering 200 bags a week.

That's double what he'd likely get at us.

If I was him and 29 I'd be tempted to do the same.

An up and coming player aged 21 to 24 of a similar style is what we should be looking for. A left sided Bowen.

Agreed. Regarding our left-sided Bowen aged somewhere around 21-24…step forward Keane Lewis-Potter.

None of that happened.

But then the picture was taken outside of St. James' Park.
