Chatted with a Fulham supporter today who also watches us a fair bit. He says the young lad is very much like Lanzini - very technical, very lightweight, great touch and can finish. He also says he offers nothing without the ball, not through lack of effort, but because he is so lightweight he gets brushed aside.

FWIW, he said we would be silly to not go for him @ £5m.

Unfortunately no, people will spend months complaining that we 'didn't try hard enough' or 'didn't act quick enough' and that they're certain with Lingard we 100% no doubt about it would have finished in the top four and won the FA Cup.

Looks increasingly likely that Lingard will hang on until the summer.

At which point it’ll come down to which league Newcastle are in and whether we need him or not.

Surely Lingard would only sign a short term deal with the barcodes anyway? Doubt he wants to end his career there!

Yep. This is long term thinking. This is David Moyes’ new West Ham.

When have we ever thought long term before? Never. And look where that got us.

If Conte doesn't get top 4 he may well lose his job. Moyes knows he has time to build the squad out slowly and correctly. I reckon that's the difference here.

We are in talks with a striker I know nothing about. According to a media report.

40 million. Schick. Pardon?

18 goals in 16 games in the Bundesliga. Not bad at all.

His sister seems to own a lot of bikinis. :crossed:

I think I’m leaning towards getting a couple of bodies in rather than players who will go straight into the first team.

Phil Jones and Origi.

Red Manchester are more likely to loan Lingard to Newcastle than us are they not? We're a threat to their league position and Newcastle aren't.

A club like Man United would be better off seeing Newcastle relegated than worrying about us finishing above them for one season.

Shirley they’d want Newcastle to get relegated and see them as a longer term threat than us?

May well be in their interest to not qualify next year and have a free reign at the league and have another manager to go and gut the squad.

Oh well…
