Exciting news about the striker.... I'm not sure how much impact the U12s player is going to have though

Agreed if you are fine that we do not have someone to step in right now for Antonio. I still believe that we seriously wanted Daka in the summer but lost out to Leicester. He is a far more likely type of player/project than many of the names “linked”. On that aspect not En-Nesyri - worse type of cheat.
I wonder if he's back on the list.
They are out of the Europa and aren't making Europe via the league next year.

I just want to say I am not in the know, at least not for a very long time, but I ( and more regularly my sister) still hear from my late Dad’s old friends and patients who were players, coaches and even owners in the 60s to 80s and a few in the early 90s. My sister is starting to get more exposed to them (mainly coaches and grandparents of academy kids now) again as my nephew has been asked to train with the academy in the school holidays and half terms etc (they live a bit too far for him to be part of the West Ham Academy). I don’t think even the academy coaches hear much any more as Moyes keeps everything close to his chest.
We had a Christmas Zoom call with one of them and that’s when I was told we’re trying to break the transfer record for a striker, and the same person told my sister the news about us likely signing a striker(and Calvert Lewin being one of 3 we were looking at) and another player at a U12s tournament today. I stress it comes from someone who is PERIPHALLY associated with the club, not a current coach or director although I am sure he talks to them regularly.
Before you first posted this same story it was all over the other main West Ham forum (the long running westhamonline.net) by one of their supposed ITKs that we would be putting in a club record bid for a PL based striker. The guy said he couldn’t / wouldn’t name him but that it was crazy money and he didn’t think the striker was worth it.
That was clearly the Calvert Lewin rumour.
Not sure if he’s worth £60m but with them being without a manager now would be the time to try and pounce.

You’re probably right Burnley. My nephew is very good, but he’s an attacking midfielder and we’re well stocked there.

Interesting. Our owners are tight with Bill Kenwright too ain’t they?
I think our owners have been guilty of writing down players values too much to report accounting losses and plead poverty and FFP problems. We’ve greatly reduced our wage bill from the highest levels and If we were to increase the values of Rice and a few others to “market value” we’d have a big profit, so I don’t think we are in any FFP trouble.
DCL has "Moyes-type" written all over it. Works hard. Runs channels. Good in the air. Decent finish. Young and on the fringe of England team. Good professional. No need to acclimatise into the league.
Not cheap and possibly over his current worth, but would be a good buy even at 60M. Moyes has been pretty lucky with "value buys" in the last two seasons but an established striker like DCL is probably someone Moyes is happy to to pay above the odds for. Hope it works out.
Wonder if Moshiri converting his loan to shares has anything to do with FFP? Everton get no more money but instead of owing £100m to him they owe nothing.

I had no idea about the rumour on the other site. I’ve always thought he was talking about a foreign player and I still think we’re more likely to sign a foreign striker and defender.
I really don’t think we will get Calvert Lewin, and don’t think we will pay £60M , but I agree if we are ever to get Calvert Lewin it’s now when he’s barely played this season, when Everton are struggling, have no manager, and under FFP pressure. While Calvert Lewin’s been at Everton for 5 years or so, it’s not like he’s come through the academy from 14 like Rice has so he’s not likely to have an over abundance of loyalty.m

What's dcl injury record like he's only played 4 games this season
Was looking at that earlier on - doesn't look all that bad really , more bad luck than anything - a fractured toe has kept him out this season [ missed 18 games ] - 20/21 Hamstring injury + muscle injury [ missed 5 games in all ] - '18/'19 - Bruise -[ 1 game ] '17/18 - Back injury [ 4 games ] - '16/'17 - Ankle injury [ 8 games ] .
