The article in L'Equipe suggests we've already put a bid together that totals €19m when add-ons are taken into account. Ultimately, I suspect the issue(s) in the past windows have as much been budgetary as they have been priority based. No point in signing a second starting left-sided CB when we have Ogbonna, so it's on the backburner and the budget has gone to other areas Moyes has wanted to improve. Signing Zouma last summer gave us the right sided piece of the jigsaw to fit in next to Ogbonna where we once had a rotating cast of Diop, Dawson, and Balbuena. Losing the last of those three meant we wanted to top up to four, and Zouma did that whilst improving on the alternatives. Now, with Ogbonna out, we're almost forced into looking for a left-sided starter that can play alongside Zouma, and Caleta-Car fits the bill.Puff Daddy wrote: ↑Mon Jan 24, 2022 9:07 am So, it has taken us fully 3 weeks to re-direct our attentions towards Caleta-Car, a player with whom we have previously been linked on several occasions. It is not exactly as if, liitle is known of this guy, but we are considering whether to make another move for him, or not . Honestly, our transfer activities are an absolute farce
Would be an interesting sliding doors moment to see what business we'd have done in this window without the Ogbonna injury.
