Buy player
Sign player to long contract
Loan to club x charge them a good fee and the wages
Rinse and repeat
They've then made the profit on player with loan fees and can sell at a fee

It's genius business and why they've been loaning 40 players out a year and still have Van Ginkel, Bakayako, etc on the payroll

They've come unstuck with Emerson though, as they have no left back they want to recall him but because Lyon paid a fee, they can't unless they can strike a deal with them

Lingard is indeed out in Dubai, but he's out there with Man Utd. Unless Rashford and Dalot are signing for Newcastle as well, then there is no connection with where he is to who he will sign for

I don't think Man Utd will see us as a credible threat to them in the League. Call it arrogance on their part, or realism.
Either way, they have played us twice and beaten us twice. Us having Lingard in our side when we go and have a crack at all of their rivals (the 'super six') would be no bad thing in their eyes.

Said many a time in this thread. This one will be a case of who blinks first. Man Utd won't want to have him sat around doing sweet FA for six months then walking away for nothing (I can't imagine Lingard will want to sit around not playing either).

Man Utd won't want to just give him away for pennies either (which is what I'm assuming us and Spurs are offering considering he is available for nothing in the summer).

Then the final part of the puzzle is Lingard actually wanting to go to a club. I can't see him wanting to go to a club like Newcastle to fight relegation for six months then be stuck there if they go down. Not when he can join a team playing in Europe for free this summer.

Something will have to give on deadline day or as we get close to it. It feels as though it is going to take a club like Spurs, WHU or Villa to stump up a decent transfer fee, or Man Utd have to decide to cut their losses.

Chelsea don't need to have a Broja recall option.
If a club offers to buy him then Chelsea can sell him and the Saints have no say in the matter, unless they have an option to buy in the contract.

Next summer is the one thats going to hurt us even more Newcastle, Southampton, Villa, Man Utd all going to be very active in the transfer market all with significantly richer owners than we have all also competing for the same sort of standard of player and can't offer the salaries they will be able to. As I've said the ideal time to get a step ahead was to invest last January spend properly in the Summer and lay down foundations of deals this January during the season. We've had our opportunity to progress. If its true Man Utd don't want to sell Lingard to us well when Rice looks to leave in the summer when we've plummeted down the league with the lack of players and no Europa League at minimum we should also refuse to sell to Man Utd but we will at the first opportunity too and it will be nowhere near hes market value Rice's comments after the game sounded not far off a come and get me plea

Wow this is depressing.

We're already much better than Southampton, Villa and Newcastle.

They can go nuts in the market and we'll likely still be much better.

Maybe Lingard's aim has always been to see out his contract and then negotiate a whopping signing on fee with his new club knowing they've saved on his transfer fee.

Were going to get this every single window from now on Newcastle hoovering up any potential deals clubs like us have any realistic of signing. But this is West Ham and this is just normal service resumed.
Moyes has done well. He is the perfect manager for these owners. Secure premier league football and rake in the money. It’s the West Ham way.
