I was simply asking the question of who you think for £25m would've been better than Benrahma. Or if you want to go the data route, who you think would've produced better numbers. Literally just asking a question based on the opinion you gave. There's no hidden agenda.

As for Watkins, what did they pay, £33m? I think Joao Pedro looks a great player and could be cheaper. Ismaila Sarr also at Watford would probably be similar price, but I'd much rather have him. I'd have happily seen us take Edouard for the price or even Origi, both of which would cost half. Berardi might have been obtainable at the time. Again, my opinion. People may rate Watkins higher and that's fine. Personally, I'm happy we got Benrahma.

We all know we would have been better off signing neither Benrahma nor Watkins right? :)

Just been looking at Broja's stats. A decent goals record over the last couple of seasons but with total of 10 premier league starts to his name, he's not exactly proven. At this stage of his career, it's quite possible he's going through a bit of a purple patch. I notice from his youtube showreel that he's been having a lot of luck with those tight angled drives.... the kind of shots where you'd be screaming for him to square it for a teammate. With an average of 10 passes a game, he also looks like a player that doesn't get too involved with the overall game. I know he's only young and he probably does have great potential. I'm not sure I'm convinced though - I'm filing him under 'unsure'.

Surely the Broja rumours are a complete non-starter whilst he is on loan at Soton?

Disgaree.

Benrahma was firing us to the title, but it's all Diop's fault.

We didn’t sign Islam Slimani because of Karen Brady.

Probably the best thing she’s done for the club!

But if Lingard refuses to go to Newcastle [preferring to join us], our £5m offer to buy him will be the only way they can get any money for him.

Interesting from Newcastle if true. Forces our hand a little too, if we like him that much we can put down a 10m bid and just get the perm move done. If his contract wasn't running down 10m wouldn't even be questioned for a player of his ability. I think you have to take that out of the equation of you want to get this done.

No doubt we are messing them around with loan offers where we pay his wage but no fee to Man Utd (no good to them as he walks away at the end of the season) or low ball bids of circa 3m that they rightly have told us to poke somewhere.

I don't know all the ins and outs and am not claiming to, but the above feels like it may be quite close to the mark.

A £10m loan fee for Man Utd is just a £10m fee. If we match that, a £10m permament, would have to see if they accept. Lingard could easily turn down their offer, though this type of offer might be one that suits him...

"United very much open to Lingard exit this month - but again will come down to player. "

How is that "down to the player" when Man U will sell or loan to NUFC, but not to WHU?

Jesse holds all the cards here. He should just tell Man U that he wants to join us, if this is genuinely the case of course.

That is no doubt what we will be hoping for on deadline day.
The risk being that we don't get him or he goes somewhere else (other clubs may offer 6m - 10m for him) and we end up standing there with our dick in our hands saying how close we came to a deal.
