Also very comfortable playing left-back. 31 career assists and 14 goals already at 24 years old. Not bad for a defender. 19 caps for his country too.hammer1975 wrote: ↑Mon Jan 24, 2022 9:46 pm Lol. Called that link on back on November 10th, p.24 of this very thread

Re: January 2022 Transfer Window
C&H were pretty bang on with their bits of insider info during the summer window, namely Vlasic. Although they publish some dumb stuff, sometimes with a questionable agenda, I think they're the closest to an ITK source at present, more so than Ex.
Personally, I'm a bit concerned by their recent story.

I think he might be one that is lined up but not high enough on the list for Moyes to give the nod. A late in the day option, possibly?

Re: January 2022 Transfer Window
He sounds perfect. But given our Czech links, if he is any good, wouldn't we have snapped him up on the 1st January? Weren't we missing 5 of our 8 defenders at the start if the month? Actually, now they are all fit (except Ogbonna) I don't see defence as a priority.Burnley Hammer wrote: ↑Mon Jan 24, 2022 10:15 pm Also very comfortable playing left-back. 31 career assists and 14 goals already at 24 years old. That said, on paper, Hancko looks ideal

Re: January 2022 Transfer Window
The problem with being quite so patient to build is it will likely expediate the loss of our best player which certainly won't help us build. If we finish 9th this season what are the chances of Rice staying? They would certainly be far less than if we finished 5th and were genuinely challenge for the top 4 come the end of the season. If we want to keep Rice we need to show a bit more ambition, it's clear the squad could do with an injection to give us a little boost.Romford_Iron wrote: ↑Mon Jan 24, 2022 8:24 pm I know everyone is super keen for some signings, but we were also desperate for CM back up in the summer, so given the amount of people moaning about Kral (who I still think might come good) you would think that would put to bed the let’s just sign anyone as backup brigade.
I think Moyes is right to wait for quality players to come available. We’re just all impatient because we’re emotionally attached and don’t want to miss our chance of breaking into the top 4 or failing to look ambitious because we don’t want to lose Rice/Bowen etc.
But I don’t think Moyes believes this is a flash in the pan. I think he believes he’s got a better squad than ever he had at Everton, not just in terms of quality but also the morale in the squad as well, and I think he’s looking at the next 3/4/5 years - as opposed to just this one.
He’s a builder. He needs time. And we need to remember where we were 2 years ago.
Your point around not wanting to sign just anyone is fair, but I like many don't believe there aren't players out there who would improve us. If we've done our homework there will no doubt be players who would be desperate to join us, playing for clubs that we have the financial power to bully in the market. That might sound crass but that is the reality of it. If we want a player like Cabral then we should go and get them. The problem seems to be that we are so unwilling to pay slightly over the odds to sign a player who could improve us, that we risk doing nothing.
For all the talk of top 4 it's likely we'd be 8th if we hadn't played so many extra games compared to the teams around us. We are currently 11th in the form guide over our last 12 games which isn't a small sample and we've lost half of them. If we carry on like this we'll be mid table come April and have lost a fair bit of momentum and possibly a chance to push on.

Re: January 2022 Transfer Window
Rice goes when someone offers £150 million, and that's whether we finish 4th or 14th.
Obviously it would be lovely to qualify for Europe again, but he's under contract, even if he agitates I don't see why we'd even consider a bid under that amount.

I do love the phrase "step up" for efforts on transfers. Right, time to stop faffing about, best actually try and do something now.

If he can cope with losing Wayne Rooney I'm sure he'll find a way to build a team when Declan decides to move on!

Sadly that is very true. They are sometimes fed debatable info for tactical reasons by the owners, but when they make comments like this they are generally barking up the right tree. Might be a last minute opportunity come up, or having been used to reduce expectations (as we have the whole window I’m afraid) a lowly loan or cheapie cover might come in who might seem a bit of a relief in the circumstances but as things stand I fear they are somewhat on predictable message.steveyrockstar wrote: ↑Mon Jan 24, 2022 10:31 pm C&H were pretty bang on with their bits of insider info during the summer window, namely Vlasic. Or buying a new set of clubs. He’ll read articles, visit the shop four or five times, try to take them on several practice rounds, ask his mates who have a set, etc.

But was Rooney ever that important to Everton? Didn’t play anything like the number of games Rice has for us. Had huge potential but felt more like the cherry on top than Rice whose the heart beat of our team.Ironing Board wrote: ↑Mon Jan 24, 2022 11:34 pm If he can cope with losing Wayne Rooney I'm sure he'll find a way to build a team when Declan decides to move on!

Depends how you define it. He had been their great hope since the age of nine. Imagine having a guy rated as the best young player in the world and then losing him.yakandyeti wrote: ↑Mon Jan 24, 2022 11:55 pm But was Rooney ever that important to Everton? He was only in the senior team a couple of seasons but his impact was massive. Played nearly 80 games and scored nearly 20 goals.
