That equates to playing 14.4 full games in the past four years!
That's the issue for Origi.
He's basically barely played since he was 19. It's impossible to know how he's body would react to suddenly playing whole seasons, let alone how good he would actually be playing 90 minutes consistently.
I actually think he'll prove to be pretty good, he was keeping Lukaku and Benteke out of that Belgium side when he was 19. It's a huge risk though.

Listen, I'm on page 532 trying to catch up.
Can someone colour-code the posts, please?
Like, red for actual transfers, blue for actual rumours and brown for Ironing Board working through his PTSD from when Rooney signed for Man U.
Cheers.

You must have a very time-intensive job if skimming past posts is such a massive headache!

You hear stories like that a lot though. There was some kid supposedly at Man Utd who was better than the class of 92, but he couldn't be arsed playing.

And that's the risk. After 6 years of barely playing does he have the appetite, fitness or ability to play 30+ games a season?

What if we'd loaned them Arthur last season and he was arguably their best play, fit like a glove and scored 9 goals in half a season?
They'd essentially be giving us a proven asset when we're right behind them.
If we had a reserve who was in the last year of his contract and someone else came in with good money it is good business. It makes Man Utd look really small time that they are scared of us. I know they haven't been at their best, but its a ludicrous situation.

Newcastle are completely irrelevant.
Last year Man Utd finished 2nd, we were not a threat to them, if we miraculously came 4th it would have been at Chelsea's expense.
This season they're 4th with three teams directly below them with 2 points in it, we're one of those three teams. How foolish would they look if Lingard's form propelled us above them and they missed out on the Champion's League cash cow?
I don't care what Newcastle are prepared to pay, or about any bonus payments we agreed last year. It's irrelevant.
They'd be foolish to deal with us now. Would you agree to sell any player to Arsenal or Tottenham this year? Let alone one with previously excellent form for them?
Lingard is a squad player who has not started one league game all season!
I'd happily sell a squad player such as Frederick's, Yarmolenko, Masuaku to Arsenal, Spurs or Man U.

Even if that same player had played on loan for them last season, was one of their better players and was vital in at least 4 victories?

Seems stupid to be honest.
In this hypothetical situation such a player would surely be a starter for us and not a squad player, based on relative squad strengths?

I agree they look stupid. But if we sold Yarmolenko to Wolves tomorrow and he ended up scoring 9 goals for them and generally being one of their best players leading to them finishing above us I would be livid.

Lingard isn't starting for them? It's a very odd situation where a player deemed not good enough for them is proven to be very very good for a team one point below them.

As does having a player in your squad that is so ineffective that he hasn't even started one league game all season.
Lingard may have been worth £20m last summer but as it stands, right now, hes an ineffective squad player who's stock has devalued both in playing terms and contract terms.
