Re: January 2022 Transfer Window
Can't blame him for having doubts and wanting a loan first. I have some reservations too and I think I'd do the same.stu1 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 27, 2022 7:11 pm Ex reporting we aren't close to Caleta-Car because Moyes would prefer to loan him but (quite understandably) Marseille aren't keen on that option.
If true then as much as we'd like to, I don't think all the fault of not having signed a player can be laid at Sullivan's door, even though it is easy to do.

Re: January 2022 Transfer Window
With Brereton Diaz, would people be happy of we signed Domonic Solanke or Mitrovic?
I don't understand the fascination with Diaz other than he's not been proven to be crap in the premier league like the other two have.

Re: January 2022 Transfer Window
Whatever his price, Sullivan's offer will fall at least £10m short and very probably more
Re: January 2022 Transfer Window
Absolutely, but why on earth would Marseille go for that? We’d be fuming if Marseille asked us to loan them Zouma.Burnley Hammer wrote: ↑Thu Jan 27, 2022 7:42 pm Can't blame him for having doubts and wanting a loan first. I have some reservations too and I think I'd do the same.

Re: January 2022 Transfer Window
Of course people can make a judgement.Hugh Jargon wrote: ↑Thu Jan 27, 2022 7:23 pm Nobody can make a judgement on Diaz. He might be a late developer and brilliant. Or. He might be useless. I suspect his past poor goals per game ratio was as a winger?
If we went back a few decades posters on here would have turned their noses up at a striker from St Mirren for 400k no doubt. Or a short arse winger from Oldham for £250k.

Re: January 2022 Transfer Window
There's no fascination... if Moyes has watched him plenty and likes what he sees, that's good enough for me. I'd go for Carvalho too. And Worrall.
And no, I wouldn't be happy with Mitrovic. He's the only person I can think of off the top of my head that looks less mobile than Caleta-Car.
Re: January 2022 Transfer Window
I think the manager has to take a large chunk of the blame this window tbh.stu1 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 27, 2022 7:11 pm Ex reporting we aren't close to Caleta-Car because Moyes would prefer to loan him but (quite understandably) Marseille aren't keen on that option.

Re: January 2022 Transfer Window
Moyes knows he’ll only get one shot at a top CB to partner Zouma. He won’t risk it on Caleta-Car if he’s not fairly certain he’ll be a success. If he ends up not being good enough we’d be stuck with him with no money for a replacement.
I think he’s hoping Diallo becomes available on loan last minute but that wouldn’t really benefit PSG either

Yes. They're both very good in the Championship but have only been able to play for relegation threatened teams. Mitrovic's form this season especially is insane.

Re: January 2022 Transfer Window
Is it the same? I'm sure I heard that Caleta-Car isn't performing particularly great this season. I think he really wanted out last summer too. Personally I'd have spent that money on Worrall even though he's currently injured, and if I was going for a Marseille player I'd go for Dieng. I'd also most definitely be making early contact with Kamara's agent too about a summer move.

Calum Chambers has signed for Villa. Not sure a fee has been announced, but it's a transfer, not a loan.

Re: January 2022 Transfer Window
It sounds like he plays when they play a back four, but not a back three. And that the Club President was furious when the player refused to leave in the summer.Burnley Hammer wrote: ↑Thu Jan 27, 2022 7:51 pm Is it the same? Re: January 2022 Transfer Window
Arsenal who couldn't scrape a team together get rid of their 4th player this window...

Ohhhhhh. Daves all of a dither. Trouble is. I would argue this window could define our next 10 years.
Do we want one of the best midfielders in the world challenging for honours...or see him bugger off and slip away to mid table obscurity. Or worse.

Re: January 2022 Transfer Window
That’s 3 signings this window who are all the type Everton would go for. They’re in trouble next year I’m convinced.
Re: January 2022 Transfer Window
Well, he starts for them, is a fairly big asset and plays in the same position, which is why I compared the two.Burnley Hammer wrote: ↑Thu Jan 27, 2022 7:51 pm Is it the same? It would be fantastic if we could “try before we buy” every player we wanted to bring in, in case they did end up being a bit rubbish, but the other teams don’t get a huge amount out of it, especially if only a loan with the option rather than obligation.
