Absolutely. 27 goals by end of January is some statement, however you look at it. The way he's going, he could break 40 for the season and that really is something. His nearest rival is Brereton Diaz on 22Ironing Board wrote: ↑Thu Jan 27, 2022 8:21 pm Mitrovic would be a good depth addition. He’s a pretty good player who would get his fair share of goals. He would certainly provide physicality up front.

To be honest, I'd still happily take Toney.
I know some fail... but Brereton does look a better fit for our team than some of the others mentioned there. It's obviously a risk.

Re: January 2022 Transfer Window
To be fair, Fulham are going all out attack this season. Like Kevin Keegans Newcastle team on steroids. He's scoring so many because Fulham are carving out 20 or 30 chances a game in some games. He wouldn't get anywhere near that for us.Puff Daddy wrote: ↑Thu Jan 27, 2022 8:28 pm Absolutely. 27 goals by end of January is some statement, however you look at it. Thats what made Bowens achievement so special... he was producing those stats for a crap team.

Re: January 2022 Transfer Window
I’d imagine a lot more than we’re willing to pay for a striker who has been underwhelming multiple times in the PL, and doesn’t directly fit our style.
Without taking any stance on whether he could be a good squad player/alternative for us…Fulham have relied on his goals in their promotion push, and would have to replace him late in the window. They’re 8 clear of the play off places now, but a poor run of games and the could be right back in the thick of it.
The amount of money they stand to gain from promotion means the fee for Mitrovic would have to be massive and they’d likely want a replacement lined up. Even Carvalho’s fee could be inflated for similar reason (even with his contract expiring…is it worth risking PL money for a reduced fee?)

Re: January 2022 Transfer Window
Toney to sit on the bench and be the mythical plan B yes but when he has to finally replace Antonio in the side I do not believe he has the qualities. One dimensional poor man’s AC.Burnley Hammer wrote: ↑Thu Jan 27, 2022 8:29 pm To be honest, I'd still happily take Toney.

This is the dilemma (exacerbated by it being the January window) go reasonably big on a plan B or not.
I would rather find the player who can supplant Antonio in the team, at least in the medium term, however long it takes. The more you spend on the plan B (fees and wages) the less you have to spend on that player given when you do find him Antonio becomes the B and the player you have brought (perhaps for a very decent fee and wages) is the C.

Re: January 2022 Transfer Window
Personally think we really missed out on Daka in the summer, would suit us perfectly and having a good season at Leicester too, who also have Vardy and Iheanacho, whilst we are stuck with Antonio.
I'm sure Daka was shouted about with us last year but may be wrong.

If there is anything in this then surely we need at least two CB in, and that seems a bit of a stretch at the moment...

Re: January 2022 Transfer Window
No idea tbh. I do see him very much as a Moyes type signing and his type of player. A big burly bull of a striker, but I cant see Fulham selling him, now they are so close to getting promoted again Allhough , money talks and if we tripled his wages , he'd probably be up for it

Why would we even allow the conversation unless we have a replacement(s) ready to go?

Re: January 2022 Transfer Window
Wouldn’t it be just perfect if, going into the transfer window desperately needing a centre back and a striker at least we actually sell one of our existing centre backs

Given the vitriol on here when the Saudis bought Newcastle and the wishes to not do business with them, how would you feel about taking their money for Diop?

And is only 22, no work permit required, counts as home grown and won't have any problems settling. But apparently his 20 goals for Blackburn are not as important as Broja's 5 for Southampton. Although, I like the look of Broja.paulhs1 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 27, 2022 8:15 pm Great technique, can score from anywhere, good in the air, runs all day (including the channels and back), can hold up a ball, and for 6,3 is amazingly good with his feet.
Can play anywhere up top (forward, left or right wing)
He's also scored 3 in the last 5 for Chile.
He's scoring at a far better rate then Bowen did when we bought him.
Hes your typical Moyes signing
£25m is a bargain.

Re: January 2022 Transfer Window
There’s no way even West Ham are that stupid, to sell one of the 3 fit centre backs while still in Europe, FA Cup and with 4 days of the transfer window left. I refuse to believe this is a real story!Johnny Byrne's Boots wrote: ↑Thu Jan 27, 2022 8:52 pm Given the vitriol on here when the Saudis bought Newcastle and the wishes to not do business with them, how would you feel about taking their money for Diop?

Re: January 2022 Transfer Window
Mitrovic has 27 goals this season in the championship, and scored 3 in 29 games last season in the Premier League. The step up is massive. Broja has impressed me every time ive watched him play this season, he has everything to become a top striker.alantaylorsleftfoot wrote: ↑Thu Jan 27, 2022 8:55 pm And is only 22, no work permit required, counts as home grown and won't have any problems settling.
