Not too bothered to be honest. I was really keen at first but the more times I watched videos of him, the more reservations I had regarding his mobility.

I agree. We've been linked with him for 18 months, his contract is running down and yet with have no competition for his signature. Marseille appear to be happy to sell. I smell a rat.
I'd rather Phillips or Worrall. Less risk.

Re: January 2022 Transfer Window
Not to come over all Moyes, but personally I'd be a bit nervous about signing Broja without seeing him at this level for just a bit longer. Maybe they wouldn't have the luxury of that choice if Southampton are looking to pull the trigger early, but with the identity of the selling club and multiple clubs bidding you'd be paying an established striker price for a player who still could go either way.
There's undoubtedly a lot of raw talent there but I've also seen him at times look incredibly uncoordinated and disconnected from the rest of the team.

I agree, you'd think there would be more established strikers for the touted £25m - £30m that would interest us?Aceface wrote: ↑Fri Jan 28, 2022 7:14 amNot to come over all Moyes, but personally I'd be a bit nervous about signing Broja without seeing him at this level for just a bit longer. Re: January 2022 Transfer Window
For those who are suggesting it is best to wait until the summer because there are more players available etc, I would remind them that we have only signed 3 players on permanent deals in the last 2 summer windows;
2020: V.Coufal
2021: K.Zouma & N.Vlasic

Re: January 2022 Transfer Window
That’s a good point, but perhaps, Moyes has more faith in Diop at LCB and because Dawson is playing in his natural position, he looks more assured. I’m sure if roles were reversed, so would the stick Diop gets.Adecoker wrote: ↑Thu Jan 27, 2022 11:44 pmDiop may have lost his way but there's a player in there methinks. Still fairly young his case is not helped by playing on the left side of the CH pairing. If Dawson is deemed the more accomplished defender by the manager surely he should play the left sided role.
The contempt and derision he gets on here is not warranted IMO. No wonder his confidence is shot to pieces. A manager that doesn't really believe in him and a section of our support on his back

You say that, but Diop also played LCB under Pellegrini back when he was playing well for half a season.mickthekeeper wrote: ↑Fri Jan 28, 2022 7:27 amThat’s a good point, but perhaps, Moyes has more faith in Diop at LCB and because Dawson is playing in his natural position, he looks more assured. "Marseille's patience with Caleta-Car was well-founded. An intimidating 6'4"tall, the now 24-year-old also has impressive pace, can use both feet - either to distribute out from the back or to test an opposition goalkeeper - and has blossomed into a communicative team leader alongside Alvaro. The way Caleta-Car nips attacks in the bud is outstanding. His turn of speed and reading of the game means he has invariably intercepted a forward pass with so much time to spare that laser-sighted distribution follows, sometimes with the very same touch of the ball."
I'll be honest.... this is not the impression I got of him from watching his videos and seeing him in the Euros.

Re: January 2022 Transfer Window
Why would Blackburn put a massive dent in their promotion drive by selling Brereton on the last day with no time to replace him? I would have thought that getting promoted would have a bigger financial reward than anything they'd get for Brereton.

Re: January 2022 Transfer Window
If I wanted to put spin on one of my under-6s who rushes forward to the ball and gives it the biggest welly directly upfield he can, in the hope that one his teammates that were all running back will manage to turn around and catch up with it before it goes out, that's pretty much the way I'd say it!Burnley Hammer wrote: ↑Fri Jan 28, 2022 7:55 am... means he has invariably intercepted a forward pass with so much time to spare that laser-sighted distribution follows, sometimes with the very same touch of the ball."
If you put "hit and hope" in Google translate does it transpose back to the same French wording as the original article?

Re: January 2022 Transfer Window
He looks good value at £25m on the basis of the two occasions that I have seen him take our centre halves to the cleaners, and he's on target for 8-10 goals in a bang average PL team. The old £2.5m-£3m per goal maxim applies.Aceface wrote: ↑Fri Jan 28, 2022 7:14 amNot to come over all Moyes, but personally I'd be a bit nervous about signing Broja without seeing him at this level for just a bit longer. If we're doing the Moyes thing of players having experience over here, Depay and Dembele (the Lyon one) might come into play.
Morata looks like he's heading into Barcelona displacing someone over there.
Origi is another obvious one who ticks the usual Moyes' boxes.
